Picked up a new toy this past weekend. The build was documented in here by previous owner forcd ind
1978 Fairmont wagon, L33 aluminum 5.3 with VSRacing 78/75, 4L80E, 8.8 rear.
Joins the 2000 TransAm WS6, 6.0 with VSR 85/88, Turbo 400, 9" and my son's (BmoreFox aka bmftuned.com) 1993 Mustang LX, 5.3, FIS94, Turbo 400, 8.8
Unfortunately, due to space limitations the TA will probably be (or tries to be) sold in the near future, and the wagon plans are just a cruiser...
glad to hear that you didn't give up on the bird running an 8 , was only joking about the wagon running a 9 but I'm thinking that won't be too hard
Well...
8's still evading me.
Went to T&T last Saturday and car was launching low 1.4's on only 3#, and hit oil pressure safety (boost cut), but still managed a 6.27 eighth mile at 8 # boost (wastegate)
2nd pass was a bust. Hit boost cut again. Went a coasting 10.50 @ 101, lol
3rd pass, turned all safeties OFF, and boost ramp from 4# launch, to 25#, in 1.2 seconds. Felt like it was the one....until I shifted and RPM stayed flat at 6500, through 2nd and 3rd gears...I guess the Jegs converter gave up...went a 9.50@142.
But....
Tomorrow we will try the wagon out and see how it goes....
My son is making one last try at 4's in the eighth as well....
Tomorrow's the last T&T for Cecil County for the year.
You didn't have problems with the oil pressure safety cut before did you? Must be pulling harder and uncovering the pickup? Would more oil in the pan help ? Not sure how much you're running now ? Waiting on wagon runs now . Tracks been closed here for a few weeks already
Dang I wonder if my friend in NJ (Kevin) knows that tomorrow is Cecil's last TnT, he just got his '69 Camaro running and put about 80 miles on it this week. He thought about going today but the forecast earlier in the week didn't look great he was kicking himself today for not keeping the option open.
So oil pressure was dropping and that triggered the safety?
I will say I think the wagon is cool, and will be a great ride! Also, I wanted to say thanks for way back whenever, you posted a link to your son's YouTube. I really enjoy watching his videos.
I always think it is cool when someone turns one of these old shitboxes into a badass sleeper. I just can't figure out who keeps them for all those years in the first place, for them to still be around to find.

No, it never had an issue. I run the stock 6 quarts, but plan to try 7.
Wagon runs still haven't happened. Decided to pit crew for my son instead of taking 2 cars.
He went 8.33 on the brakes at 1000ft. 1.15 sixty foot

Yessir. Dropped right about at 60 foot. It isn't gradual. It drops from 65-70, to 25, on that 1st pass.
I believe my new suspension geometry has an effect. My car always separated a lot, front and rear, but now I have it setup to stay neutral in rear, and lift nose only. It finally hooks everytime, but now I think created another issue.

Thanks for watching. He appreciates you all.

Just shy of 3200. I weighed it the day I brought it home.

Mine was owned/built by fellow forum member, who happens to be 78 years old.
Ironically, the wagon is smaller, overall, than my TransAm. Same length, but narrower
Sorry for delayed replies... I never get notifications from here anymore for some reason.
