There are two big advantages to running a cam with a turbo setup on a stock bottom end LS1...
- It moves the powerband higher up in the RPM range
- It makes it much more pump gas friendly

These are two pretty important things to protect the weak Gen3 rods and it opens up the tuning window quite a bit. I've seen LOTS of bent gen3 rods over the years from power coming in too soon, and a turbo setup is certainly capable of bending them a lot easier compared to a procharger setup. A 7875 is going to be capable of making peak boost pretty early down low, around 3600 rpms or so. Sure I think you can hit your goals without doing an aftermarket cam, but I would wager it would actually be safer for the engine if it had an aftermarket cam in it. And of course a lot comes down to the tuner but that part is obvious.

Update, just picked up a set of TEA 243 heads off the forum. Thinking I may call Mamo for a custom camshaft to assist in my original goal of max efficiency for the build. Scope creep is in full effect.

And so it begins.....
Get the cam spec'd for whatever power adder you plan on using too.

Haven't had a chance to connect yet with Mamo on a cam but I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on using my existing LS6 intake in combination with the TEA heads and the 7875 turbo. Would using this manifold be a significant detriment to the potential flow of the heads up to 6500 rpm or since it's FI would the difference between the LS6 and a FAST102/MSD Atomic be negligible? Just trying to figure out what I'm leaving on the table if Mamo sets me up with a good cam for my goals and if spending big dollars on an intake/throttle body setup will really be worth it.

I don't see the need for a custom cam, just pick a cam from somebody that fits your goals and be done with it as there are tons of off the shelf cams that would work. The BTR stage 2 turbo grind actually works really well especially with turbos like a 7875 on an LS1. The TSP stage 2 turbo cam is similar. I would just keep the stock LS6 intake manifold, most aftermarket ones are not worth the money spent when you are shoving air down it's throat anyways unless you are trying to run it out to 8000+ RPMs or have a bigger cube motor. Besides, your weakest link is the Gen3 rods in that engine so save money for what's going to inevitably happen down the road.

I think you'd agree the useable powerband with the LS6 is way better for a streetcar too.
My buddy bought a BTR intake and the useable range is from 6,000-8,000 rpm, I'm wondering what about everything below 6,000rpm which where a streetcar lives lol.
