Smile FMIC install started....pics in here...

Well I finally got caught up with everything yesterday so I decided today was a good time to start on the FMIC install. I also got my SS(stainless steel kyle ) 3 in tubing today too

I was doing this solo today until my Dad showed up to help out. Thanks pops So we got pretty far for a couple hours work. I can't believe how easy this is, ranks up there with a N2O install, if not easier.....routing the tubing is probably going to be the headache part.

Here is some pics of it so far. All that is left is bracing the bottom of the FMIC. I have some welding to do, but ran out of sunshine, so completed pics will be up tomorrow sometime.

Tomorrow details on the the install and more pics

Make sure you cutoff those tabs for the license plate holder area. Looks nice with being able to see the intercooler.

Nope that is intentional. The plate cover stays. It will come off only for track duty/ dyno sessions. I need to keep this thing protected here in the land of road construction.

Have you thought about putting some kind of wire grill on the front to protect it? My buddy has one on his GSX with a front mount doesnt look bad since he got a dull colored one.

SC-Mecham, dammit you found me out Thanks man!

Supersport here is the 3 inch SS tubing and 4ft stick of 4 ply reinforced silicone that I have right now. Tomorrow I'll be a cutting fool.

Just waiting on the HighTempSilicone order to come on in. Big shout out to Jim at HTS for getting me what I needed right away. Hopefully tomorrow morning, Mr. postal man will have a package for me with a HTS label on it

NO problem SS2000. Not a kit at all, just some mad thinking up of ways to save $$ to do this. I was pricing out aluminized steel tubing of various mandrel bends but kept getting quotes of $189 on up to $320 So I kept digging around on ebay and found all this stuff for pretty cheap. The SS mandrel bends were 36 eachSS, the silicone was 36 shipped and the HTS stuff came out to be 96 and changed shipped. I'll PM you with the details on the SS mandrel bends and silicone. I hope there is enough bends here to get all this done, if not NAPA here carries a ton of mandrel bent aluminized stuff(used to work there) so I know I can find what I need to complete this lil project.

I am glad I found the SS bends for cheap, no corrosion or rust worries and it polished up real nice, but I'll paint it for now(up top only )

Thanks for the info frcefed. I already bought my mandrel 90's and all my silicone hoses to mount onto my 36" wide griffin intercooler
The intercooler ships next week. Once I install it, I am getting it dyno tuned. Keep me updated on your IAT's. I am curious to see before(ATI KIT) and After (FMIC.)
