That will probably be a future upgrade for me, I think I'll be able to use the 60's for now though playing w/the FP
The 72's look like they are going to be around $800. Big money, but when it comes to fueling I'd rather go all-out.

Who makes the 72's? And are they a SVO style? And will they be hard to tune in using EDIT?

RC Engineering makes them.

No, they aren't hard to tune. I think they are pintle (same as SVO) if that is what you are asking.

From what I've heard they are as easy to tune as the 60's

Kevin,
That's good to know that those injectors are easy to tune, cause i'm from NJ and after my 383/ D1SC setup is built i'm driving up for your tuning

Cool. Then we'll have two D1's in the 700's

Final Update.

I put in the 72 lb injectors. They are easy to tune with the stock PCM and work just fine. You have to do a bit of trickery with the IFR table at WOT though, being the injector numbers are so big.

The extra fuel didn't move the peak power up any more in the RPM band (unlike what I thought) so I am currently building peak power at 14.5 psi at 5800 rpm (blower is at about 80%)

675 HP
627 Tq

I think this is where it is going to stay for a while. I want the car to hook in 4th gear, and right now it is borderline (kind of scary blowing the tires away at 100+). Also, I enjoy the piece of mind of not having anything set on kill. Timing is low, fueling is rich, my blower isn't being spun to the moon anymore, and the car is quiet and drives like stock. All in all I am very happy with the way things turned out on the build.

The specs:

383 All-bore (APE Dry Sleeve)
ESP Blower Heads (LQ9 casting) 72cc
4.100 Bore, 3.622 Stroke
Diamond Pistons -26cc reliefs
8.25:1 Compression
Cometic Head Gaskets
Nitrated Stock Crank (keyed for balancer)
Stock Rods (bronze bushed)
Custom Cam (222/230 114LSA ~580ish lift)

D1SC Supercharger
3.3 RR Pulley
SDCE 8 Rib drive system (7.25 crank)
ATI Superdamper Crank Pulley
Custom FMIC
ATI Race Bypass

Stock PCM (of coarse )
72 lb injectors
Duel In-Tank Walboro
Aeromotive Fuel Regulator (43 psi fuel pressure)

Dynatch LT Headers
Kooks High Velocity Collectors
Stock Cat-back (very quiet )

Thats a brutal setup. Not running at max everything and still make insane amounts of power

I think I am going to settle in at the high 600's for a while. As I'm sure you know it gets a little freaky in 4th with this kind of power.

Maybe I'll pulley up the supercharger for 16 psi (at my peak HP this time not 800 rpm past it ) when I get some rubber behind this thing.

Sweet number by the way on the stock ATI system. We'll have to line the cars up some day . I actually live only a few minutes from you guys.

That has to be a record for the stock cat-back.

that TQ is friggin ridicoulous. I would giveup 50 rwhp to have that tq. Hp is great and all but tq is so much funner We're gonna front mount mine eventually. Might have to down pulley it though as some are picking up 4psi from that change. I dont need 14psi. But I figure I could see near 700 rwhp just from the front mount setup. Good luck with you car and I would love to line up against you so we could do some 1/4 burnouts on street tires at the track

That is AWESOME Kevin. Really gets me thinking....

385ci with 8.25:1 comp, little bigger cam, heads in the 327cfm range at .600cfm, Your D1SC kit with 16#s boost, pump gas, 72# injectors, 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 headers, 3.5 inch catback, stock PCM....

Man I need to move out there Sounds like you have quite the ride. I would love to have those numbers on a stock exhaust, mine is still too loud lol. Keep up the great work Kevin,
J
