Question OBX TBX3000 intercooler

I've looked like a madman for flow numbers, pressure drop, hp support, etc. for these ICs, and have asked every single vendor on ebay, but none of the sellers respond, and I can't find a single word on the internet. OBX doesn't even list them on their website that I could see.

Any of you guys running one of these care to share your HP? How much fpressure drop are you getting? Anyone running 15psi?

TIA

Really, I found a lot on ebay and specs too? I found a whole bunch with OBX top plate welded on em.
OBX's website is lacking. They seem to be resellers not parts manufactures. So this FMIC probably made by someone else and labeled OBX for them.
As for specs here they are:
High flow
*
High power handle supported up to 800hp
*
Big inlet 76mm or 3"
*
High efficiency big core with internal fins!!
*
Low pressure drop 0.2psi at 15psi
Demensions:

Dimensions Details:

* Core Length : 24" (600mm)
* Core Height: 12" (300mm)
* Core Thickness: 3" (76mm)
* Inlet Size: 3" o/d (76mm)
* Outlet Size: 3" o/d (76mm)
* "End to End" Length: 32" (800mm)

Cool, thanks Frcefed! You are running one of these, correct?

Did you see big IAT drops? I'm in Orlando, so am looking for something like an air conditioner

YEP, but then again, I was running the ATI twins and trying to push 15+ psi through them. My IAT's dropped real good, so far I haven't been over 100deg IAT on WOT blasts, I live in Albuquerque smack dab in the middle of the desert, it works good for me. I'm happy with it, are there better FMICs out there.....damn straight there is, but this one was good enough for me and it fit my car's requirements real good and best of all I didn't have to wait forever for it....too bad I paid 530 for mine, when there is a million on ebay for 275+ shipping
But the car is happy, I'm happy and I see a lil over 15psi, I only saw 12psi with the twins.

I sell OBX stuff at my shop and even I couldn't find specs LOL.

Anyway, some testing today showed my IATs were 190deg at the end of a run without the methanol so I am defiantely putting one of these bad boys on in the next couple weeks. I ordered mine today form my normal Dist. and should have it tomorrow.

Frcefed, do you have any pictures of the FMIC installed? Also where did you get the piping?

Thanks

For anyone wanting size specs on this thing I just got mine in today.

It's longest measure from end to end of each outlet is b[]30.5"[/b]

Narrowest length (top) is 25.5"

Depth 3"

Height from end of mounting bolts 13"

Maybe that will help some of you considering getting this piece. For the price I'd say it's a damn nice cooler. It's most likely not Griffin or Spearco quality, but its also not $800+

I can't wait to get my "before IC" testing done so I can slap this bad boy on.

Lost and Found I will PM you the pics I had posted
Kyle they aren't there anymore, on demand only now.
F8L Z71, I agree completely, nice welds, nice fit, nice smooth endtanks with 3.0 in/outlets and great bar and plate construction. I had the overall dimensions posted in my FMIC install post....I think lol. Yep can't beat the price for the size of intercooler you get.
Hope it performs well for you too.

Sounds nice. I have heard of Griffin FMIC's costing substantially less than $800 so I would not generalize like that...

Mine is 4.59 deep.

My bad, I could have sworn someone said that's what they run for one that size and when I looked in my Greddy catalog the big ones were like $800 and the Spearcos $600+. Well we all know what the first 3 letters in Assume are right.

Plus we normal members don't have the admin/moderator discounts from the sponsors

I tried to get a GP on the same griffin FMIC that PSJ has, as there was a ton of interest in a old thread but alas none of the sponsors stepped up. So had to get one someplace for a good price, and I didn't have to wait.....poor ol Bos Have you got yours yet?

might be less than $800 but nowhere near $300 to your door.

I got mine today too. Looks great. Have to see how it turns out but if I have the same success as J I would call this the bang for the buck champion of intercoolers.

I think in the last GP the Griffin's were like $4__. In the case of the one that I prototyped that's for one that supports 1500 cfm.

I just ordered one. So much for my DIY water/air system. Feedback has been pretty good on these units and the price can not be beat!
