Default STS Turbo Kit Q's...

Hello everyone. I have been reading on this site for a while as i love and used to own a 95 fbody. But i am amazed at the numbers you all are getting from these rear mounted turbos. AMAZING kit imo. anyways i sold my ta a long time ago because the ls1's where to expensive for me at the time. but now im back a few years later.....now i am wanted a 1999-2000 c5.

now this may be a completely dumb qeustion...but hey what are forums for

i really would like to turbo the c5 but the kits are....wow....expensive. 8-10K not installed. come on. corvette tax at its best.

now i have been looking at these sts kits. could one of these kits be modified to fit a c5? doesn't the exhaust do almost the exact same thing as on an fbody? please help me out and let me know. and if anybody here can give me a number to call for more info that would be great aswell. if nobody replies to this i will call sts but i dont want to have an idea of what im looking at first.

Thanks
you guys in the FI are car wizards imo

Drew

No the exhaust is different, and would be about crazy to mount a turbo under a Vette, unless you put a 3" body lift on it...LOL. Ground clearence would be zero, and busting a turbo off because of a bump could be a pricely mistake.

Drew, yeah I love my MKIV, I had about 150 bucks worth of mods (used rmm DP w/cutout, bleeder valve and K&N filter) the car went 12.0@118.XX mph and made 429rwhp/454rwtq....hehe. Not bad for cheap mods and about 1 hour of work. Now I have the AEM in it and I'm going to go single on it. As for C5 kit for 4K, no, unfortunately the C5's are complicated beasts to fit a turbo in. You could fit a T28, but it would be done by 2000rpms....lol.

I have done a litte research, and it would be difficult to say the least. I even had someone bring me a c-5 out to the shop. Its not going to happen for $4k.

Jose....man i love the way you can feel the mods to the MKIV.. i put on a RMM DP and a GReddy PE and and intake and it felt godly. you lucky bastard....never sell it.

yeah i figured no way for 4k. just a pipe dream i suppose. but 10K is just a rip IMO someone has to make it for less than that. i guess i mihgt have to look into getting an LS1 and turboing it. because im not gonna be able to stand an N/A car.........ever again.

I have been looking at the STS kit myself. The price is definitely very attractive and they seem to make good power. What kind of power is the kit capable of making with the larger turbos they offer.

Guys, think of it this way, psi is psi. Boost level, if done right, is gonna = power! I've got a 383 stroker that should make over 550 whp with their basic 5 psi unit. At 10 psi (very achievable) that should be somewhere above 700 whp. Notice I said, "done right". For instance 10 psi done right = IC and maybe meth and that kind of stuff to keep the knock retard down to 0. Lots of things to think of, not to mention fuel delivery. My $.02!

Ls1 with forged rods & pistons, LS6 cam, LT's, fuel system, stock heads and intake, running a t-67 @ 10psi is making 570. Dont remember the tq. I think it is 610 or so. The owner is a member on this board.
