I am interested in how much boost pressure he is going to lose. I thought you couldn't run an air to air intercooler on an STS kit, only the alchy meth kits? Hopefully he gets some good results, I might be doing a custom turbo steup soon and this would help out greatly. Keep us posted.

You can certainly run an IC. Boost loss is dependent on how efficient the IC is. We will find out soon enough. Should be posting IAT differences at 5psi by the end of the week.

If the turbo is big enough, he won't lose any. The wastegate will keep boost pressure in the manifold constant.

right, I should have said that. efficiency would be the only potential loss. no boost loss with turbos.

well anyway initial results.

cruise inlet temps used to be 115-120, last night 75.

5psi boost used to hit 140 yesterday hit 80

the testing was done in the evening though so outside temps were a bit lower.

waiting for during the day data.

so far this thing looks like it works awesome

Are you flaring the ends of the piping so after 5 or 10 psi the hose connectors don't pop off? I was going to ask how the IC was monted but I can clearly see it in the last pic. That IC core seems fairly efficient...cool! Thanks for the info.!

not a bad idea but I have never flared the ends and never had a problem up to this point. T-bolt clamps have alot to do with it I bet though.

Yes, t-bolt clamps are good. I've seen them hold from 15-20psi without any flares...good stuff.

Easy way to do it is just run a weld bead around the end of the pipe, keeps the clamp from sliding off.

Thumbs up

For beading, You can also just buy 3" exhaust pipe couplers and use a chop saw to cut thin sleeves. Then just slide them onto the pipe ends and tack them on.

The install looks great. Can't wait to install my FMIC on my vortech.

Jerry if you can bring the truck to Fremont Cali I am sure Rick can hook you up.

Rick is the owner of the TA and did the work. I was just there to add my 2 cents when necessary
