Default Need some advice on ATI.

I have a ATI 7# kit and with stock heads, cam, LT headers, and OYP I am only seeing 5 pounds of boost. I am wanting to go with a smaller pulley and end up around 8 pounds. I did a search on this and the belt slippage problems but could not find a post with a clear answer. So here are my questions:

1. What size pulley should I go with to see as close to 8 pounds as possible?
2. Who should I get the pulley from?
3. How much do they cost?
4. Will I have an issue with belt slippage?
5. If so what is the best solution, who is the manufacture, and how much?

Also on another note I am thinking about doing heads and either a 2002 LS6 cam or a custom blower grind. Is this worth it? I have heard all heads will do is let me make the same amount of power but at a lower boost level do to less restriction?

TIA

Couldn't find a clear answer? SDCE is a clear answer that always comes up in belt slippage post for ATI kits. All of us SDCE users love our spring tensioned kits.

To your questions.
1. What kyle said, what size are you running now?
2. You can get it from ATI directly, or superchargers online or use google, they are widely available on the net or local speedshops.
3. 80 bucks is the about the norm on pulleys
4. Yes, slip will always be a problem on the ATI kits(non 8 rib ATI upgrade)
5. Get a Goodyear gatorback belt first with your pulley you have now(can be bought at autozones or summit racing) and see how much boost you will make with this belt. I had good luck with these belts keeping slip down. It will cost you about 15-20 bucks, but still cheaper than getting a new pulley.

Now for the best/final solution, go to www.sd-concepts.com or call their number and talk to Wendy and tell her your boost goals, then tell her to send you an 8 rib SDCE spring tensioned kit for your ATI kit, yeah it costs some bucks, but you won't have belt slip anymore.
A few of us have these kits and absolutely love em.

I have a 7.65 crank pulley and 3.40 blower pulley with the 6 rip system from ATI on a P1SC head unit. I am not haveing any belt slipping now I just do not want any when I up the boost. If I can get a 3.20 or 3.00 6 rip pulley from ATI and a gatorback belt and be fine that would be great.

When I did the search these options came up but I did not see any prices or saw a hands down favorite after reading about 10 threads:

ATI 6 rip system with gatorback belt (would be the cheapest and easiest option)

ATI 8 rip upgrade system (could not find cost on this)

ATI cog system (I think I saw about $1300.00 for this)

MMS system (I do not know if this is 6 or 8 rib, price, and I think they are out of business.)

SD (i guess this is the same as SDCE but did not know who it was until the link was posted here.)

With the stock pulley on the 7# kit and since I have LT headers and no cats I thing I am getting the most boost as possible. I am not getting any belt slippage now so just changing to a gatorback belt will not increase my boost. I am simply wanting some opinions on what would be the best way to go to see 8 pounds. Also I have a auto with a 3500 stall and shifts around 6000 rpm.

Do either of you have any opinions on my head and cam question?

If you want a cog set up cheap, I can do that for you lol.

Try the gatorback and smaller pulley combo first. That should get you where you want. But if you plan on pushing it any harder you should reaaaallllyyyy consider the SDCE set up and yes it is also known as the SD set up or sd-concepts, this is hands down the best set up out there. They make a 6rib and a 8 rib spring tensioned set up.

Here is a post of some good feedback from the SDCE kit owners.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/208667-follow-up.html
They are great to deal with and Scott is very knowledgable on FI set ups.

On the H/C question. A set of heads will always help if you chose em correctly. You can lower you compression ratio with a set of 6.0 heads down to around 9.5-9.7-1 compression ratio. This is a great plus if you still have stock pistons, bottomend and are running boost.

More airflow=more HP so a good set of heads will help you in that area, they don't have to flow crazy, as the blower is doing the work.
I recommend a custom grind depending on your future goals, needs. Call up FMS and see what they would recommend for your set up.

And another jer forgot to say is that yoy will not want to run 8 psi thru heads and cam on a stock bottomend because just like you are saying you dont see the boost you want because of LT's ... its the same thing with heads..... you will drop boost (do to better flowing heads) but the same power will be there...
