motor question

Default motor question

i have got a 97 vortec 350 basicly the lt1. with two to4b garrett turbos wisco forged pistons 8.5 to1 compression ported vortec heads. msd boost retard vortc fmu eldelbrock multiport fuel injection. at 13psi. but my question is since i put dual 3inch in my car i have blew two pistons one in number 6 and one in number 8. just wondering if any ideas.

Sounds to me like your leaning it out, you need to add more fuel.
The dual 3in exhaust is gonna lower your back pressure and gain you some hp. More hp means more fuel needed.

I put two step bigger injectors in it the first time i blew it up. but it blows black smoke the hole time some guy told me that i am creating to much head heat. if i pull the plugs the front four are black and the back are just about right. but my boost retard usually sits at about 1.5 but i just put a launati cam in it the last time and know my boost retard is at about half now with the cam. i don't know it is just bothering me.

He's just refering to the MSD unit which lowers timing as boost rises. On Fox body Mustangs you pretty much HAD to use this item. It does sound funny though. Like it is going to retard boost instead of timing. LOL

sounds like a fuel deilvery problem, or a fuel regulation problem. the from cylinders are getting ....and using up too much fuel, by the time the fuel travels all the way down the rail, the back cylinders are leaned out. putting a bigger exhaust on the car will both raise the boost, and lean the car out. sounds like you either need to engineer some better fuel rails, or some that have the feed in the center.

has the car been tuned at all? im also assuming you dont have enough fuel, also what does your entire fuel system consist of?

it is an eldelbrock multiport fuel injection with two step bigger injectors. vortec fuel managment unit. but the computer i can adjust how much fuel at any rpm and it is turned all the way up. another thing it only happens at the track. on the street or on the back roads no problem.
