Default belt tension

I have an ATI kit and not sure how tight to make the belt. Any suggestions?

real tight

seriously, i had my 8 rib so tight that it would ring or humm when you tap it with your finger.
i run an sdce tensioner kit now and i'm alot more satisfied with it than i ever was with the stock ati crap. and the cool thing is the belt tension is no where near as much as what it was before and i get better results.

another thing to remeber is that if you are using a new belt , it will stretch and you will have to retighten it every now and then till it "settles".

With the "stock" 8 rib stuff, I had it as tight as it would go.....

With the SDCE stuff I would run under the reccomended amount and still have no slip

Grab the belt with your pointer finger and your thumb..... try and twist the belt...... if you can twist it more then 90 degree's its to loose.... You shouldnt have to big of a problem with the stock ATI 8 Rib stuff..... 5 litre eater is doing fine... PM him.

sorry to hi-jack, it,s been mentioned before that sdce tensioner is good, looking at the mtr from front of car is the tensioner mounted on the left, are your blowers on the left. can this tensioner be used if blower is on the right.

How i mentioned with measuring it with your fingers is how i did it with my 6 rib setup but i could never get it from slipping...... I would upgrade to a spring tensioner setup from SDCE for 6 rib setups.. or step up to the 8 rib spring tensioned setup.........

For the Aussie..... heres a few pics of mine on the car with out the radiator in... i dont know if you can get it to work on yours but i hope these pics help one way or another.
