Cool Turbo guys inside

Since nobodys making a production twin turbo kit anymore I have no choice but to build my own. Ive done a complete supercharger system on a Trans am so the turbo shouldnt really be that hard. I have a Cnc Mill and Lathe in my shop along with a welder and a bunch of other stuff. No pipe bender though.

I plan on making a system like the CAS one. Thinking about ceramic coating the insides of the headers so they dont crack on me. I think that would help.
It runs in my head that CAS wanted 6000 for there kit. With that said im going to set my budget at 4 grand.

Heres what i need to know from you guys that have or know about the CAS system.

What turbos did they use? Where can i get them and how much are they?

Also what blow off valves do i need?

Any advice from someone thats been down this road before?

Hope you guys can help. as soon as all my research is done i will order all the parts and get going on it this winter.

Run a T4 exhaust housing, and instead of mounting the wastegates so they feed off the internal port on the turbo, feed them straight off of the collector. You'll hold boost much better that way.

It's a choice he will have to make, but they do make a kit. From what I hear/know it'll be hard to get a hold of Rob to make an appointment anyway.

Default finding parts

thanks for the info guys.

I dont think i will have QMP make me a kit. I like the idea of making my own.
Seams like everybody that orders a twin kit get burned by some company that goes out of business.

If my kit turns out good I plan on making some up to sell. I have the equitment to make them.

what are your power goals? this is an important question to ask yourself as this SHOULD tell you the turbos to go for. i personaly would go for Garrett GT turbos as they are a much better design than the older T series. also you can get them in ball bering format which will spool up better and be better behaved at lower boost. a good alround turbo is the GT30R unit. 1 will produce about 500bhp so with 2 you will see over 1000bhp. but they also opperate at low boost just as well as they do at 2+bar.

you can get the above turbos with internal gates, but the general feeling is external gates are better. they will give you much better control of presure and generaly hold boost better than internal gates.

as for blow off valves, the choice is yours. just make sure it/they are large enough! if not you may have spool/lag problems.

i like the idea of ceramic coating. it will reduce temps no end, and on a turbo, thats important. if you do the inside, you will creat anpother layer that the heat has to work though, but you also run the risc of if it does come off, you may damage the turbos! i have seen some motors run interanal coating on the manifolds with no problems, so really the choice is yours.

hope it all goes to plan, and keep us updated.

thanks Chris.

PS, sorry if some of the stuff i have said seems a bit diffrent/odd/wrong. im a brit that is used to 4 pots so dont kill me straight away. hope some of it is some use though. LOL

I think you'll be OK coating the insides of the pipes. We coat our pistons ond chambers with no problem so why not the turbo piping?

Default my goals

My power goal is 450-500 HP. That dosent seams to much to ask for from a CAS style kit right?
