Default advise on gears???

I'm putting together my 2000ss it was dyno tested at 640RWHP with a d1sc blower at 15 pounds of boost. I just bought a 9" rear and need to know what gear ratio to use with my setup with a T56 Tranny and what is the best driveshaft to use.

Thank you everyone

If u can get a 3.55 then go with that and if u didnt find 3.55 then go with 3.42 if possible. I have 3.73 gears in my 8.8 rear end i sometimes think i think its too much gear. Im making 90rwhp less than u too. Get a 3" chromoly DS.

3.42/3.55 sounds good to me. I run a 3.50 gear in my 9" but I made more opwer and I have a T400 trans.

So would you say a 12boltw/ 4.10s in a 6sp is too much w/ 800+rwhp? Using 28x11.5in tires

Way too much, and with the lower peak of a turbo you might even want to check out some 3.23's or 3.31's. I had a set of 3.31's in my Chevelle SS. I would not go bigger than 3.55's.

I didn't know that 3.50ish gears were so popular in the FI scene. Why would you not go any bigger than 3.55's, PSJ?

Hmm....the 4.10s didnt seem that bad w/ my vortech setup and 28x11.5 et streets. If i stick w/ 4.10s and just run a lil taller tire like a 29, assuming my inner rear quarter wouldnt get rubbed all to hell. Wouldnt that be ok?

Tom agreed the 4.10s were to much w/ that setup and they're gonna drop down to somewhere around 3.42s give or take, I think whatever ratio Jim is running in his TT LT1. Glad i saw this thread cuz i didnt really give to much thought bout the 4.10s and turbo till i saw this thread. Tech boards kick ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not with 800rwhp Ryan, won't work. Also depends on where the combo peaks, and when it starts to big time drop off in HP. If you peak at 6200 for example, and it drops off like crazy at 6500, then you would not want to shift too high, dig?

Yeah, i understand PSJ. i bet they are gonna drop back done to a 3.42 or so w/ a new posi. Cool thing is they are gonna take me to a track up there when i go pick it up and kinda teach me to dial in the suspenion & how to launch/drive it since the most experience ive ever had w/ high horse car on the track was a cam only automatic 99 z28 w/ 388rwhp. I never got the vortech setup on the SS to the track Wish i had just to see what it wouldve done. Bet i could got high10s outta it w/ my so-so driving skills.
