Default Exhaust leakfound

APE tore into my car this week. Both headers were cracked. Now fixed. I will continue to post pics. Nick has been great keeping me in the loop as if I were there. My car is 360miles away.

I had a cracked header once. My LTFT's for that side got a lot higher... maybe +10 or so, and my power was down (I think mostly because it threw off my tune).

Yours are 321? Cas has a few issues with the initial design from my standpoint. 1st, the flanges should be cut into two peices, right down the center basically (front to rear)....{simple to do at anytime} This will allow for some needed expansion room. Also, where the exterior welds are on the flange to the primarys, the welding should have been "stiched" not full welds...Save the full weld for the interior where the flange met the pipe. It appears that once the cracks are repaired on these kits, if you have any, that that does the job. Mine never cracked, but we've seen it on yours and noyzees kit. Corky Bell was pretty specific about these requirements, along with enlarging the log manifold bolt holes in same cases to keep the flanges from expanding and sheering the bolts....the ladder being hard for me to see happening.
BTW A-Dee-O, love that hood.

One of the things that I noticed about the welds on the CAS manifolds (based on pics that I have seen) is that they were clearly not backpurged during welding. I'm wondering how much of an affect that would have on their tendency to crack? Regardless, it is still a log manifold, so I really feel that any of these items we are referring to merely prolong the inevitable...

It was something I noticed in this pic. You can tell from the crud on the inside of the tube where it was welded. If you properly backpurge stainless it will be a mirror image of the weld on the surface.
