Default Calling SSnakeKiller

I would say it is better to have stock iron exhaust manifolds because of the heat retention. When you use headers, there is so much heat dissipated.

SSnakekiller this is something you said in a earlier post that got locked and i wanted to talk about it. This is what i have planned for sometime after christmas. Bigger Fuel pump, 42lb injectors, patriot duel gold valve spring kit, fix my exhaust leaks and remove my cats get the bigger t-67 turbo i was also gonna do a FMIC setup crank it up to 7-8psi or so and POSSIBLY not certain yet but do a turbo cam...a big one....and of course get it tuned. What i was thinking of doing while i was having all this done was wraping the turbo with heat wrap and my whole entire exhaust from the headers back. Do you think that plus removing the cats would make a diffrence if one at all because i have jet hot long tubes and a 3in y-pipe and you talking about heat dissipation got me thinking....just a thought tell me what ya think...i might try it anyway and see how it works

Tom, as cheap as exhaust wrap is, try it and see what you think. I would be curious to see if you notice a difference before and after.
I am pretty much done with the intercooler kit. I will post it on the site soon.

just have jet hot long tube headers, 3in y-pipe, MAFT tune, desreened MAFS, FLS6B and a fan switch everything else is stock. A couple of my buddies got there cars dynoed at the same place as me and it looks to me there numbers are kinda high they look about 10-15hp to high so i am probably at like 440 range

Yeah this is just a theory, but it would be great to see you do it and then get dyno numbers afterward. I dont know if the peak numbers will really be much different, but you may get more area under the curve...spool up faster...I really dont know without actually seeing it measured
Like trt said, try it out...

Let us know how your experiments go, thats what this board is all about

id think it would help, i dougt it would hurt, you really what the heat to stay to help with spool and gas velocity.

I was thinking the same way. I already POR-20'd my stock exhaust from manifolds to where it connects to the turbo. It can only help. I might do the wrap too. I was just worried that the wrap would cause pre-mature aging to the pipes. Let us know how it comes out.

I am going to coat and wrap my exhaust system to help spool up while running my larger than is needed turbo. I'm hoping it will aid in sppol up. Area under the curve isn't such an issue for me since I launch on 6psi+ and am under full boost throughout the whole run. It just would be nice to get to full boost faster at a stoplight so I don't have to draw attention brake stalling.

This is obviously while the 6.0L motor and 4L80E goes in.

What are you gonna have a trans brake or something? There are very FEW 4l80s with trans brake, if I remember right, only one place does them...

I don't need the T-brake to build boost off the line. With my 3000+ stall and 4wd I can easily brake stall it up to about 6-7psi before it starts to pull me forward. I am going to try pulling the ABS fuse and see if this keeps me rooted and not edging forward when doing this.

Havn't you seen this video?

I stalled it up but the turbo was nice and hot and it just kept boosting higher and higher till I hit 8psi and took off. My poor suspension maxes out and the front tires bow in and since I run in 4WD they scrub all the way down the track as you can hear. In this run the intake tube blew off before the traps so it wasn't the best run. My usual 60's now are 1.80 with the front end dropped. In that vid I only wen 2.1 60' due to all the crazy side to side crap. LOL

lol no i never saw that video...bounce bounce
Thats badass, i didnt see it was you when i replied before, i didnt even look, was in a hurry and assumed you were RWD. Yeah with 4WD i bet you can hold that thing steady pretty nicely...although you were still inching. Do you have to hold the brake REALLY hard or what?

Yeah, I am literally STANDING on it to try and keep it from inching forward as it was. I redlit because it just flat out wouldn't stay put anymore. One of the guys said that by removing the ABS fuse it wont do that anymore. I am gonna try it once I get the truck back I can get it to spool up faster now that I know how to do it but it still takes about 4seconds or so to get it there.

I lower the truck in the front to keep it from bouncing now though and my 60's are much better, and perfectly smooth. I just don't have any video of the low 12 runs since no one was filming that night
