Default stupid question

I am new to FI and am torn between a supercharger or a Turbo. I heard turbos tend to be slower in the 1/4 then SC's do. Is that the case? I'm looking for more a 1/4 mile or 1 mile performance which would be best? The search is to broad so I thought I would ask then research one or the other. Also if you can get turbos fast in the 1/4 as well what is involved? I don't want it if it will cost me 7000.00 more than a SC kit. But I do want honest opinions and any help, like I said I am new to this. I already did H and C as well as all the bolt on's. I will also be building the internals and going with an iron or C5R block. Thank you for helping me get started in the wonderful world of FI!

ok man heres the d/l. turbos are more efficient than s/c's by a long shot. reason being the turbo isnt run by a belt and pulley that takes hp to gain it.with a turbo its basically just power, power, power. depending on the turbo kit and s/c kit it can be anywheree from a 1000-6000 dollar difference. with the right stall setup that turbo car will knock off an s/c setup similar to it. in my opiniopn turbos a faster yet more exotic way to go but well woth the investment when done right.

S/C is far less expensive for "most" people. I've not seen a sub $10,000 turbo set up when all is said and done..but Ive seen plenty S/C set-ups at that level or below. I like turbos, but it eats money as you never want to skimp.

Thats not really true, it depends on what your looking for, if you want a 6-9lb daily driver a STS kit with some minor fuel components and a tune will do just fine, for a all out turbo setup, of course your going to break $10k before you can blink

Almost all of the required components are the same for a 1/4mile car wether it's a turbo or a blower.

You will always need:

High stall TQ converter
Fuel system
Custom tuning
Exhaust (unless you do an STS turbo)
Tires (unless it's a 4x4)
Intercooler or methanol
etc.

Even the kits are not going to vary much in price once you have all the same components needed to make each kit shine.. ATI base kit is pretty cheap but once you get the SDCE(sp?) pulley system and other needed parts you'll be back up to a Radix or STS kit with the FMIC..

I have about $5.8k in my turbo setup but if I were to count up ALL my mods I'd have a lot more... It's the little junk you need for great 1/4mile times that will kill ya.

The STS is the cheapest kit I found so far but I have heard some doubts about it. So far I guess it looks like I might go Turbo. I was also looking at the ATI F1R supercharger. Either way, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!! Ohhh wait I need more money now. Damn modding virus, I can't shake it!
