Default Turbo and cut-out

OK, this is my last exhaust post...I promise

I am having my car dyno'ed today and want to install my cut out before....should I install it or not? Should I see an increase in power over just using my Borla run open?

I can't decide if I will gain any power......

I would install the turbo right after your downpipe where ever is convient (closer to the turbo) and dyno it cutout open. If you have like a few hours in pulls then do it both ways and post up your results.

You will gain power for sure. How much will really depend on boost levels and current backpressure. Don't be suprised if your a/f ratio's go a little leaner if you keep the same boost level. My guess would be at least 30hp gain.

Do it and let us know.

The shorter the distance the exhaust has to travel in a turbo application, the more power you'll make.

I already had a cutout on my i-pipe from before the turbo. Without the turbo I gained like 2rwhp and .1rwtq. With the turbo and cutout open I gained 5rwhp and like 9rwtq. Not that great but its something.

Well, believe it or not.....my results are the following.

About two weeks ago with little tuning I was at 471 RWHP, Since then I opened up the Borla (no muffler) installed a cut out and my next run was 522RWHP

Final numbers ended up at 561 RWHP

Sweet, did you do a straight cutout closed / open run to tell the difference without other factors?

No I didn't

I wanted to but the shop was already closed and they were working after hours, plus I was more focused on getting a good safe tune.

I did notice about 1 to 1/2 lbs more boost on the gauge with the cutout open, and it spools better. Best $35 I ever spent

Very nice gains. I knew it would make a pretty good difference but 90 hp, that's huge! Definatly good bang for the buck mod.
