I have what I think to be enough riding experience. I grew up on bikes. I used to race dirtbikes, but I haven't moved up to streetbikes yet. My dad and I build choppers and other bikes occassionaly. More him than me. I help when I have time. I am not worried about myself on the bike, but there is a worry of other drivers. I live in Lexington, South Carolina so the traffic isn't really that bad. And I wouldn't get a bike just because women dig them, it's just for the joy and excitement. Getting a good newer bike with low miles wouldn't be expensive at all for me.. my dad is in the motorcycle business... I was pretty much set ona turbo, but not I'm thinking a bike would be better for me..

Well... I sold my R6.... Got 22's, turbo kit, and Brakes for my truck.

I am alot happier and and alot safer. I can Agree when you say that a bike is a better performance machine... Bikes and cars, or trucks for that matter, dont even compare in size, weight, agility, and speed. It's the fact that you won't usually die when you crash in a car, but alot of the time when you are racing a street bike, you won't walk away, or worst case won't walk again ever.

I'm not biased in the least bit. there are plenty of upsides and downsides to both. Kinda like a bike is a better investment, b/c you will get your money back when you sell it.

I got the crazy looks on the bike with a 90 mph Stand-up wheelie on the freeway, but I still get them when I spool up the turbo on the freeway and fly by unexpectidly. Both are great fun for sure!

It can go both ways, I just hope you aren't like most who buy a street bike on instinct, b/c they are lethal and can be extremely dangerous if not used properly.

Alright, I was stuck in this dilema too(i guess i still am kinda but i'm leaning more right now), I know nobody bought these cars to get gas mileage, but a bike(especially that light), will get around 40 mpg, maybe more, also a bike and a car are totally different, a bike, every 2 horsepower makes a huge difference, with a car, it takes 20 horsepower to get that difference, plus you get a totally different experience when you're riding a bike, like my dad says and i'm starting to believe, enjoy a sporty bike when you're young, if you still like just riding when you're older get a cruiser, and once you can either anymore then go with cars, I love my car and wouldnt sell it for the world but I personally am looking forward to getting a r6 or possibly a r1 in the future.

Here's my logic on the bike thing....if you live in an area where riding is "safe"....low 11's at 125 mph, 40 mpg, and they're COOL!

yes my 50mpg is awsome.
plus with me turboing my car i needed a dependable daily driver, so the bike was a good choice, very dependable and fast, good gas milage, i put 12,000 miles on it last year.

A Busa for your 1st street bike??? A low 10 second to high 9 second with a couple mods and a good driver bike for your first is a little crazy. Not only is a Busa fast but its kind of a pig as well. These two things together spell disaster for a beginner street rider. Dirt biking takes skill, but you don't have to worry about two ton metal objects pulling out in front of you. A 600cc bike would be better, they still do low 11s to high tens and are light, brake awesome and insurance is a little cheaper. Unless you are a big guy stall small at first and go bigger later. Just my two cents.

I say bike. You can always get hand controls and really good parking spaces in your FI F-body after you're done with the bike!

I've riden a Busa before.. and it is a hog.(Probably why I've decided not to get one) I've riden several other bikes, but never been on an R-1 or R-6.. I'm leaning towards an R-1 right now. A guy near me in my state has one up for sale. It is only a 1000cc bike. The R-6 is a 600cc and will be my next choice if I don't get this R-1. The R-6 would be a good beginning bike and I could probably get most of my money back on the resale. I have a lot of previous riding experience on dirtbikes and I just don't want to outgrow a 600cc too quickly and be pissed that I went with that and just have to turn around and get another bike. Both the turbo and bike have its pros and cons, but I think the pros of the bike outweigh the turbo.. The area I live in is not a big city area, nor is it too dangerous. No matter where you live you will have idiots on the road.

SS00Blue- Damn funny comment

i say bike all the way.
go for a 750 if you don't have a lot of expierence on street bikes. just because you've been on them, doesn't mean you have expierence.
i'm NOT saying that you don't have expiernece, just incase tho.
take a safety class too, they are helpful and you'll meet a lot of guys to ride with.
i would go for a 750 because i outgrew my 600 in 3-4 months.

The words only and 1000cc bike should never be used in the same sentence.

if you out grow a 600cc bike you arnt pushing it to its limits. It really takes along time to truley out growa 600, ive been riding for 6 years and havent yet. ive raced several 750, 1000, and 1300 sport bikes and have beat them do to being able to control my bike better then them.
like this guy i lined up on the street with a honda 959, he didnt have a chance from a dig, this hyabusa at the drag strip, i beat him 5 out of 7 times because he couldnt hook up, i havent even ran into a 750 that could beat me yet.
basically it comes down to the rider
then there was this 1200 ninja when i had my 600 ninja from a roll he pulled me like i pull my friends harleys, but we wont go into that :lol

Buy a bike just for the track if you have one near by. Racing is alot safer than commuting. Or get a MX bike and start racing if you want a rush. I've been skydiving and that didn't even top the thrill of flyin through the air on a mx bike
