I had an R1 for a couple of years, real crazy off the line and everywhere else too!! Not a good one to start with for a 1st but if you do you'll love it if you make it through the first month without ripping all your limbs off. Seriously be carfull and get to know the road, its allot different than dirtbiking!

if u want a fast bike dont get a hyabusa or anything suzuki. suzuki is like the ford of bikes.... problems after problems. i would reccomend (if u want fast) a ZX10R or an 05 R1. i have a 02 954RR and its awesome. the two ikes i mentioned are the only 2 i would get if i had to get another bike.

if you dont want to go too big get a R6, or 600RR, or even a ninja 636 or 750 would be a sweet bike to have. i like most of them except suzuki. i just dont like em.

u can veiw my bike if u like www.hot-chip.com

These two things together spell disaster for a beginner street rider. Dirt biking takes skill, but you don't have to worry about two ton metal objects pulling out in front of you. A 600cc bike would be better, they still do low 11s to high tens and are light, brake awesome and insurance is a little cheaper. Unless you are a big guy stall small at first and go bigger later. Just my two cents.

you wont be pissed or outgrow it......... trust me

i went from a 1982 kawasaki 550 LTD cruiser for my first street bike and thank god that i did. 2-3 months went buy then i bought a 98 F3. rode that till the end of the season and sold that. later that winter i got the 954 and it took about 1000 miles to get comfortable riding it b/c o how much power it had. im still scared shitless. those bigger bikes will mess you up 100 times faster then a 600 would............

just dont think you know everything, im not saying i think your saying that, but it just sounds a little cocky. just dont want u to die b/c u didnt start off right on the road.

give it some really good thought

i did

im still alive

FI the bike. That is what I plan to do with the '03 CBR 1100XX. I just need to find a good aftermarket engine management system. I don't like the piggyback systems. Hahn racecraft has some interesting bike turbo systems. Then again, I always had a complete disregard for life. Most people might not need a 1:1 HP to Lbs.weight ratio.

You just completely contradicted yourself. Suzuki is the only manuf. that produces a 750 super sport bike these days. Kawasaki used to...what...10 years ago?

bike, if you getting a sports. anything from Japan and 600cc or more and you will be VERY quick. dont forget sports bikes are not dragsters, they are much better on the twisty bits than they are in a straight line!

Chris.

Thanks for all your help guys. I think a R6 or CBR600F4i would be a good start. I was also considering a gxsr750, but heard the comfortabilty was really shitty.

This isn't my ZX-11, but it's pretty neat.

I would say get the bike....it may cost $6-8k but you can't beat the performance/enjoyment per dollar factor, period. There is NOTHING like rapping out a bike at 14krpm 1st/2nd through a tunnel....sends chills down my spine.

With any forced induction setup on a car you're gonna spend upwards of 10k for the complete setup (drivetrain etc.) and still have a so-so reliable car. With a bike you're out of the box fast and reliable. Your life may not be as reliable depending on how you ride but the bike will be.

suzuki has problems???? like what you obviously do not know about bikes. what problems does suzuki's have. The only problem i know about is premature tire wear

back to the original question, I would get a bike, lower maintenece, better gas milage, better for riding the twisties, and if you wanna go 10 secs. in the quarter, a bike can do it stock

also, anything more than a "modern" 600 is quite enough for your first bike. Personally, i started on a 500, and 2 600's, a 900, then went back to a 750. Also gear is not an option, it is essential

good luck to you whatever you get
