Default Advise: Anyone that has installed a STS turbo kit on there LS1 come in.

Hey all:
1st I did a search and looked over 20 pages but I want some new input.

I have a 02 Z-28 and was looking into doing a heads and cam on my car but now I am looking at the STS turbo kit. Both will be close in price.

Let me know what you think of the kit including ( install, looks and performance wise ) what you really think and would you do it over again?

I am either going to do the heads and cam or the STS turbo kit but I would like some input on the turbo set.

Thanks all

I'm a little biased, but once you go forced induction, you will never go back!

I see you are a dealer for them. What kind of price am I looking at for one for my 02 Z-28 for the 5-6 pound kit? Thanks

Billy will hook you up.

You will get agruements going both ways. With the heads/cam option, you would have to get a very aggressive cam to come up with the same horsepower. Which in turn will make your car less streetable. That is my opinion anyway.

Not to disuade you from going Forced Induction... but once you go down this slippery path... it gets expensive. You can only go so far before you start spending 2-3 times what you expected. The good thing about a turbo is you can turn up the boost.

Heh... Remember that "Slippery Slope" I was speaking of, well I am still falling.
When I finally get my car up and running, I will gladly give you a ride. Right now I am on stands for at least 3 weeks while my Tranny is being rebuilt. I am putting a performance one in now.
Hopefully I will be all done by then. If you can wait that long, sure thing.

EDIT:
But I am far from stock with just an STS. Go to my MODS page. I am easily in the 5 digits on mods . It's like a drug...
I still need a forged bottom end and a 12 bolt before I can really get into it.

I know there are quiet a few cars on here that would simply stomp me.

But I tell you what...
There are a few trucks on here that I would not want to meet on the street.
You guys just stay up North and in Texas. Okay?

With the smog issues in California, getting an aggressive H/C package passed might be tough. If the STS kit gets a CARB exemption, it would be a good deal. The base kit is pretty well-made and fits nicely. How much power were you looking to get?

Here is the truth 1 Blown V8 , let me tell you my story , i own a 2000 z-28 A4 , 3.42gears,ls6 manifold ,MTI air lid , borlacatback , and texas speed 224/224,581/581 ,HPtuners .
My friend has a sts turbo kit on his 99 z28 , we were side to side , beside my front pumper was kind of more in front of him.

I really advise with honesty if you want to go for a turbo , go for http://www.ls1speed.com/eliminator.cfm , and you well know what i mean.

7k+ for just the kit, nevermind the forged motor, heads/cam and everything else to make it worth while, ya great advice. You just told him to drop 20k to beat a head an cam car. Some of you people baffle me

Man, your buddy better get his STS tuned because he should be able to whoop up a cam only car without trying.

I have dropped 10K with another 5K to go to get mine back on the strip but a forged internal, dual power adder is at the end of the tunnel. (STS+N20)
