Default Failed Smog after ATI Install and Tune...Help!

I had my car smogged before I put in my ATI P series supercharger and it passed. However, today, I had a pre-test done on my car, and it failed big time. It failed the HC, CO, and NO tests.

What can I do? I assume it is the rich tunning (11.5:1). Should I put the stock injectors back in and then put a stock tune in?

Thanks for the help!

If it's tuned right it should pass exactly like it did before the blower.

The good news is, that by getting it tuned to pass smog, you'll also get more power!

If you failed for NOx as well as the others its too lean. A real lean mixture will cause all of the above AND the high NOx which is a function of excessive cylinder temperature. If you were too rich you would have a very low NOx reading. A properly operating EGR system also lowers NOx.

E-Tune (Mike Morgan) tuned the car; however, he no longer is in business.

Results
15 mph - HC Max allowable 50 I measured 143
25 mph - HC Max allowable 34 I measured 95

15 mph - CO% Max allowable .48 I measured .63
25 mph - CO% Max allowable .45 I measured .52

15 mph - NO Max allowable 414 I measured 653
25 mph - NO Max allowable 701 I measured 500

Does somebody have a HP Tuners file that will be a better tune?

Thanks again for all the input!

I passed with my setup in North Carolina, and with the 822RWHP power. The key is the O2 sensors have to be on and working. That cannot be if you are running 11.5:1. The O2's get turned off when going to WOT. But smog test are done at idle and under 2000RPM. Your o2 sensors should be on and controlling fuel at idle, if they are not that is why you failed. Your supercharger on the car has 0% to do with passing or failing. At Idle, your blower should not be generating boost. You also will not pass a tail pipe test if you dont have cats on the car. I dont care how clean your emissions are. It is a federal regulation. You also can use Sims on the rear, and that will help also, if the cats are see through.

Hope this helps.

I'm a certified E-check (emissions ) inspector in Ohio. Chevy Guy is right about NOX. The two major players with NOX are the E.G.R. and the catalyst. Make sure the car is not shut off prior to testing, it must be in closed loop. High CO means it is too rich. High hydrocarbons are caused by incomplete combustion. It can't have any mis-fires and if it has too radical of a cam forget it. Because they all walk hand in hand if you make a change for one gas it will probably effect another. We have seen cars that cannot pass NOX with an aftermarket converter. The NOX bed simply is not large enough. Scan it for any codes, check the O2's to see if they can cross the rich and lean thresholds (-200mv, +800mv). You'll have to force it lean and rich to check this. Check your cats (they will effect all the gases). If you have one of those laser temp devices you should have a 10% or better reading at the back of the cat. compared to the front with the car fully warm. I have Random Tech cats (only on for emissions test) and noticed that the car was eating the material away inside. If I had left them on they would have been gutted long ago.

There is your problem. Suprised it hasn't blown the engine.
Get it retuned and you will be fine.

I agree. You need to get it dialed in exactly, and you can't do that by mail. You need a dyno with a wideband.

Call/email Rob at Strictly Performance. He can let you know where to go for a good tune.
