Default Supercharger Whine?

Do the superchargers for the LS1s make much noise? Ive heard Cobras that you can hear from a mile away. But on the LS1 supercharged cars Ive heard I can barely hear a whine.

Its probaly another one of my dumb questions but I would really like to know.

Generally speaking, the centrifugal superchargers do not whine like the screw-types on the mustangs.

You can get an Eaton roots blower, but they're a waste of money IMHO. You should be more concerned about the power it makes, not just buying something for the cool noise it makes.

Screw-types, Eaton, Magnacharger, etc., require cutting the cowl on f-bodies because the engine sits so far back. There may be some cars with them out there, but I have never seen one. Plus, like eviltwins said, you just can't get as much power out of them as you can with the centrifugals, so it is more trouble than it is worth.

its also the gear design in the centri. if they are strait cut gears, they are really loud, just like in a tranny, but if they are spur cut(or at an angle)they are alot quieter.

The blowers make a little noise, the belts make more. 8 rib v 6 rib. If you want the whine you don't even need a blower just install a Gilmer Belt drive pulley system, people will believe your blown & it's loud.

Add a Turbo for power and add a gear drive for the noise.

the vortech SC seem to be louder than the prochargers. i like that my procharger is quiet, besides the blowoff, which is the best noise a boosted car can make...niiice
