SMC alky guys inside please.

Are you guys running denatured alcohol or methanol? Which is better to run?

Does anything have to be changed with the flow rate or nozzle between the two (denatured vs meth) or do you just put the meth in?

just put it in...monitor knock and a/f . Personally i would/do use methanol. it is cheap and very effective.

Methanol

I have the round bottle SMC and was warned to not use pure methanol, for it would eat the pump seals, well the pure methanol is so good in terms of the boost/timing I can run compared to denatured that I run 100% methanol exclusively anyway, and my pump is still running strong and setting ET/MPH records for the combos I have run. (Knock on Wood).

If you go to www.turbobuick.com in the Alcohol Injection forum they have a post saying "Methanol Sources" that will list places around the country and the price to buy methanol. When I buy it in 6 gallons or more at a local race fuel dealer it cost 1.75 a gallon

Trust me a 5 gallon tank will last a LONGG time like all summer for a frequent cruiser.

I talked to Steve at SMC friday...main thing is for it not to sit. I hit the test button every day I drive my car just to keep the pump freed up

Where is Edwardsville? I live in Central IA and get methanol for about $1.40 or less. I buy mass quanities at a time, so I might be able to hook you up.

I hear rumors that if you leave meth in the containers for a period of time it will gum up if moisture/condisation mixes with it. Is this true? Can you leave the meth in the tank w/ out worries of corrosion or eating seals? Also how much improvement is their between Alk Vs: Meth?
I'm using some NOS solenoids. Do I have to use the fuel solenoids or can I use the nitrous solenoids. I dont see their being any problem other than flow.
Any suggestions??

Methanol can draw water if it sits too long. Thats why people don't usually buy it in mass quanities. And yes, if it gets cold, methanol begins to 'gel' and doesn't flow as well.
