Just my opinion here, but I think you might actually cause more restriction in the intercooler by flipping one of the tanks, and I think you won't see anymore cooling affect. I understand the crossflow thinking that your using, but you're not flow water in a radiator at a low speed, you flowing air at high speed, and the flow dynamics are different. The majority of the air is going to flow strait through the cooler from the inlet cuz that's the path of least resistance. As flow increases and the air volume becomes more then the tubes can flow at that pressure then air will push up the cooler to the tubes not directly infront of the inlet.
By flipping one end like you are thinking of, the bulk of the air is still going to flow strait through the cooler and then have to make a 90 to the other end of the cooler and then a 90 out of the cooler. I think that will cause more restriction and not increase cooling efficiency like you think it will.
The only way that you could increase the efficiency is to rebuild both ends of the cooler and have the in and out in the center of the tubes so it would have tubes on both sides of the inlet to "spill over" to when the flow becomes greater then the tubes there can handle.
That's my 2 cents, but let me know what you think.

endtank
I will wait. Its easier to modify the tubes the way they are so at first I will leave the end tanks the way they are. If Im satisfied with the results then I wont mess with it. Thanks for the input guys
