Default STS owners please answer Question.

Is the rear mounted system you have realy worth it? How well does it work? Any ground clearance problems? What is the power you are making? I am thinking of putting one on a stock engine with headers. Will it make the headers worthless? What is the most boost you can make? Lag time? Give me the whole scoop so I can make an educated decision here.

I like the price of the STS kit compared to other turbo kits. I am debating between this kit and a procharger ATI D-1SC kit. I just can not make up my stinking mind!!

Come on here. I could do searches but what fun would that be? I am looking for people I can talk to today that can give me personal experience with the kit. Man if you are just going to say do a search, why bother even responding? I personaly think that is rude. Come on guys, I know there has to be someone on here that has that kit.

Or Pm Purevl, he went from a D1-SC to an STS kit with great results.
F8L Z71 is also a wealth of info on the STS kit. They look to be real nice and put down some great numbers.

The reason we say do a search is cause more then likely the questions you want answered are already here. Its not rude.. matter of fact the way he mentioned it wasnt rude at all. He couldve said what I always like to say..

The search fucntion is your friend, use it.

no ground clearance issues, driving in the rain is safe, and globs of power cant really hurt, im making in the 860 at the wheels with my sts on 12lbs, but i have a 436 w/methanol injection, and intercooler with a custom tune, but i would definately recommend it to anyone, no offense to the procharger guys

860!!! Criminy!! Great numbers man

I secon what Untouchable said. I started with a GT67 + meth on a stock 6.0L 10:1 block -- made 580rwtq mas o minus (logged number).

No discernable lag with that set up. With the new setup (408, FMIC, meth, GT70) all I can say is "What's lag?"

Default Got my STS last weekend

Hey Man-

Just got my STS turbo put on my stock WS6 by the texas rear turbo guys, www.TRTturbo.com and I am loving it. It has great power, and hearing the turbo is so awesome. But even more awesome than the kit itself are the TRTturbo guys. They really go the extra 5 miles. I HIGHLY recommend having them do you kit. They treat your car like it was there own and put alot of pride into there work. Also if you are intrested in some custom tricks with the system they have some great ideas (see there website with the pics of plexiglass in the trunk so you can see the turbo)

You will be very happy with the system especially if you have the TRTturbo guys help you out with it.

Headers are not made worthless, just less effective. Most sell them to recoup some money for the turbo. Definitely keep them if you go with the SC.
STS claims boost up to 15psi on the stock kit. It uses a 60:1 A/R compressor which is a nice balance for daily driven vehicles when using a boost controller to dial things up for instant performance. Try that with a SC.
Lag is a fact of life, especially when going with a larger compressor. The ATI model is a centrifical SC and is actually very similar as far as lag goes compared to a screw type SC ( instant low end boost ). I found the lag useful when the weather was crappy outside in my 2wd truck.
Turbo will grow better over time if you want to up the performance.

I have about 1000 mile on mine. It is a blast, especially on the street, make a fast shift from third to second and hang on. I ran a low 11 second Supra the other night, I pulled him until the top of third and then we ran out of road, and I am only getting 4 psi to the manifold. I have only made two drag strip passes, I didn't do well though, I have to re-learn how to drag a turbo car. Both times I pulled 2.1 and 2.2 sixty foots, best time was 12.2, but trap speed was in the 119-120 mph range. If I can learn how to launch this thing I think it should run mid 11s on drag radials. Depends what you are looking for, I have a supercharged car also, torque is there and instant, turbo car comes on like a nitrous shot at 3800 rpm, and it sounds so cool.

Well, thanks to my Trans going out, I will have to wait until next year to do any FI Kit. It sucks. I did speak with the gentelman at TRT. He was very informative. I am begining to realy like the idea of this rear STS kit idea. The only problem with it is the air return line. I have subframe conectors which from what I understand, the kits return air runs down the channel on the driver side that my driver side subfram is now using. I have to have the subframes due to the BMR Torque arm's cross member ataches to both subframe connecters. I think I have a fix for this though. I am thinking of bending a new crossmember bar and running the return air line back up front beside the exhaust pipe. It would look like it has dual exhaust on it. I might have to put a heat shield between the two and I might even have to run oval pipe. But I think I can do it.

I am getting the trans fixed Monday, it is going to cost me $2500. My trans man said there will not be hardly any factory stuff left in it. But he does not thinl it will hold reliably any more the 550 hp. So I guess thats were my power has to stop. I looked into a 4L80E, but that will be another $1500 more just to get, and I have no idea what else it will cost. All mods start out one price and just seem to keep adding $$.

I will be glad just to get to drive the car again. Heck its been broke two weeks and I can not belive how bad I miss it!!

I put my STS turbo kit on in August. Now with over 30k on the kit, I have been very pleased with it. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. With the base kit set at 8lbs of boost I made 400hp at the wheel and 429tq. That was with no intercooler on it. Will have my intercooler kit finished soon and will see how much more she can make. You want be disappointed.

I have Bmr tube style sub frame connectors, I left the passenger side and the air pipe is pretty heavy duty, it acts as the sub on the other side. I would suggest you sell your current subs and buy the tublar ones and just use one. Running the air pipe up the other side is gonna be tricky, plus the heat isn't gonna help you.
