Default Better intercooler through a/c

I though of this while i was looking at the air to water intercoolers. what if instead of having water go through and cool the fins for the air you pump freon through it instead just like the what it does in your a/c box you think it would work. granted you would have to have your a.c pump always running. but if it can make the inside of your car that cold why couldn`t it work going through an intercooler. what are your guys think? maybe im not thinking of something cause i think someone would have done this before.

It's been thought of, but I'm not sure if it's been actually implemented.

ooh does think a air to air intercooler with a c02 spray bar would work better because you engine wont have to work to cool it? what kind and what size intercooler do you guys run?

for drag racing air/water work way better
something like this would be like running ice water in your heat exchanger 24/7 without ever having to put ice in

I believe the Lightning concept had a resevoir of cold air or something that would chill air, and could be used like nitrous, without the potential ill-effects.

next gen lightings, which have been put on hold, were supposed to use a system like that, but it was only supposed to be short lived., 50 HP gains for a few minutes @ a time, not sure how it was supposed to work

It was stated as offering a 50hp gain for up to 15 second bursts, usable every couple minutes, there would be a dash light indicating when it was charged and ready to use. They had some gimmicky name for it that I forget now. SuperChill or something like that.

as far as the idea you had, about the running of freon through the intercooler, i don't believe that would work since the a/c doesn't run on our cars at WOT. the "supercooler" that svt came up w/ is an excellent idea, but would be somewhat difficult to install in our cars. the way i understood it, there was a storage tank of antifreeze w/ refrigerant lines wrapped around it. when the antifreeze was around 35 degrees, it circulated through the intercooler which in turn dropped the intercooler charge temperature dramatically for approximately 15 seconds. awesome idea, but where could you put all of this on our cars?

Default a/c intercooler

It would only be good for the the street. Because as soon as they saw you leaking condinsation all over the track you be gone. I had my a/c on one time will waiting in line at the track, the track official wasn't too happy!

LOL, it works when there aren't leaking problems with the units due to crappy quality control.
