I would only trust Kirk to tune any of my cars. He has tuned my race car at APE time after time and can always get the tune dead on. He has probably tuned more LS1 cars than anyone in the country so it doesn't take him endless hours of unneccesary tuning, he gets it done and done right.

Yeah, it's bizarre, because he get's the thing spot on in just a few pulls. I was running almost 13 pounds and it took him about four pulls to do it. The guy knows his stuff!

Did someone say TT C5?

Good luck finding a better tuner than Dan Millen especially when you're talking turbos.

It took me 3 years to totally debug his install on my car

I went to Livernois the end of last summer to talk to them about a STS tune. The guy at the counter told me I knew nothing about turbos and gave me a $8,900 dollar quote for their single turbo system. He said they might be willing to try tuning the STS, but no guarantees.

He then went into the speech mentioned in an earlier post about how all the engineers will tell me it will never work (he never asked me what I do, I am an ME).

I went with Nelson Performance throught the mail, and have had no problems.

I don't know Bannish, I dealt with Martin Williams.

Guys, he asked who the best tuner is. Most of this thread is a conversation about someone who no longer works for a sponsor. Obviously for a reason.

I can tell you that Dan knows his **** and so does Kirk. If I see another Greg Banish post this thread is done. Thanks.

Please. Recommending a tuner can also involve who not to deal with, this is a discussion forum.

Greg is no longer a tuner, is no longer in the aftermarket business and no longer works for any of our sponsors. Hopefully that helps you make your decision. Beyond making this a bashing post, answer the question and keep it on topic.

I emailed APE about tuning a STS truck kit and will share thier response...I saw the livernoisms @ the autorama and the guy did not even know if there was a boost guage in the Caddliac w/ thier single kit...

I also mentioned to APE if it was possible that Kurt was going to acutally do the tuning???

I lean towards any business that does an honest days work for an honest days pay.

I have benefited greatly from my time as a ls1tech member and would hate too think this forum has become a bullshit scamming piece of **** like the spike tv's power block where new products who pay for time and sponserships rule. I live in Detroit and have gone to Livernois motorsports, they have Ford company badges on, they promote Ford racing, if you are a true Chevy LS1 fan you would not care if they are a sponser.

Kurt Urban does some tuning work and runs most of the day to day stuff that goes on at Wheel to Wheel. Kirk Deadhammer (sp?) does tuning at both APE and Wheel to Wheel. I think people are mixing the two names up not knowing that they are two different people.

Yes, the babblers can make it confusing sometimes. There are two separate people being tossed in the mix.

Kurt Urban-427 is the W2W guru.

Kirk D. is the former owner of APE gone contract tuner.

Thanks for clearing that up, Kurt at W2W was the only person I had spoken to. I was just making sure I wasn't calling him by the wrong name! LOL
