Wastegate Q

Hey how messy is it to run a wastegate open atmosphere as opposed running it into a dump pipe.

What's the sound diffrence?

You'll hate the sound more than likely, and so will the cops.

I heard them on videos mainly on supra's. But i'm not sure what the're like in person

Will more than likely be a little loud; alot of air noise. I am going to convert mine from venting to atmosphere to venting in the exhaust. It will sound better.

Hows the Cleanliness do you end up with alot of soot in the engine bay?

ive got 2 on mine venting to atmosphere and it doesnt sound that bad. just a lot of hissing. but it works.

Yes it will make a mess, I would recomend running a short pipe off the wastegate either away from the bay or dumping it into your downpipe if you like your car quiet.

Personally, I want my car to be loud as possible, and I have mine running down and pointing back under the kmember.

Its not hard to merge the wastegate waste side into the downpipe after the fact though if you place your gates right, but it is definantly harder to go the other way.

I run mine dumped, its only loud when your at full boost, which means your gonna be attracting more attention no matter how loud it is. I have not seen any sooting or any problems for that matter.
