This isn't a LS1 question, but I figured I might find the info I'm looking for. I am building an alcohol injected 496 to run in a local 10.5 street car class. I am wanting to run a turbo, and was wondering if the exhaust temps from an alky motor would play hell with a turbo. A few details are still open on the car, but it will be mechanically injected, through a turbo 400, running large amounts of boost, shooting for mid-low 5s in the 1/8th mi., and on a 10.5 tire. I already have most of the engine parts, just trying to iron out the details.

I have tested a BB chevy twin turbo on methanol without a intercooler. We are using electronic fuel injection instead of mechanical. Seems to work well on the dyno, track times coming soon.

Just curious why you want to run alcohol, it is a massive headache for not much gain on a car like that. A 496 on gas should have no trouble making enough power to go low 5's, and meth just adds a whole nother level of complication.

The reason for meth is I can get it cheap, I already have most of the parts, eliminates the issue of an intercooler, and between my Dad and I, we should have no problems with the tune. The original plan was N/A, injected on alcohol, a combination we have run extensively in the past. With the class I am wanting to step into, Forced Induction will likely be required to run the number. Remember, this is a full weight 10.5 car, reaching for low 5's. I am still trying to decide which form of FI to go. My Dad wants a Roots blower, but I would prefer either cent. blower or turbo, leaning more towards turbo.

Check these websites out for pics and info on a BBC, alky, twins, and a carb a to run Outlaw 10.5. It probably won't answer your questions but they are pretty cool pics to check out.

Anybody have any experience with how to deal with oil contamination from the alky? I know that we used to change oil every 2-3 passes on our old alky motor, but was wondering what effect the junk oil might have on the turbo bearings.
