Default What do you all Prefer

I'm sitting here in the office kinda bored and i started thinking...

Would you guys prefer to run a smaller turbo lets say one that spools around 3-3300 rpm and sacrifice some boost max 16psi or would you rather have one that spools at 4200-4500 rpm but can reach 25+ of boost.

You can only rev the motor to 6500 rpm.

I would want the smaller one that boosts 16#. I don't "plan" on going much higher than that and I would like for my car to be streetable.

Automatic or manual trans?

In a automatic car I would take the big boost setup

Always go bigger turbo (well unless your a sissy ...lol), more efficient to a certain point. Psi per Psi, it will make more hp, and allow you to hook as well. Going to big like some of these yahoo's do ("I want a T101 on my lawnmower"...haha) will cause you to get compressor surging driving around...which is not good for the turbo.

Oh ****, guess I better order a smaller turbo for the lawn mower then.

I was hoping to mow the lawn in 8.43 seconds

That's not entirely funny guys. Some of them tractor pulls in modified stock put out some serious **** with turbo diesels, of course they are propane injected and everything else on top of that. There is always the "toolman" lawn mower.

To me it would depend on what power or times you wanted to run, and is it a street car ? I can understand ,the bigger turbo for more efficiency thing, but IF I could make the power EFFIECIENTLY with the quicker spooling one and run the times I wanted without maxing the turbo out, I would probably get the one that spooled the quickest and still allowed me to reach my goal. You may have to run more boost with the smaller one, but you have to decide what you are willing to compromise. For instance , if I wanted 880 rwhp "I" would get a T76 GTS ,but Jose may want a T88. It's all about preference. Both can make the power , but one will spool quicker ,and the other will probably make the power at lower boost .

The T88 has alot more room to grow at that level, and the T76 has more room to grow but not as much , but at that power level, many are pleased, so room to grow does not matter to them, while it does to others. If my goal was effieciently reached with a smaller one. it would make more sense "TO ME" to get the one to spooled quicker. Some may want that extra "room", but again in this example, many would be pleased and that is already more power than you can use in a street car, and some may want boost to build later to "help hook", although with that much power the tires will probably boil before full boost with anyway.

It's a preference and what are your goals type of thing to me (race, street car ,or both) .
