Default Supercharging a stock engine. Durability issues?

The title sums it up. I was looking at either the ATI or the Vortech. Engine is a stock LS1 with catback and LT headers. All internals are stock and the engine has 15K miles on it. So, will adding a supercharger roast my engine? How much boost can an LS1 in STOCK trim handle? Any other considerations, such as additional fuel handling needs, tuning issues, etc?

Thanks for any input

Alot of people will tell you 8lbs is about the max you can run safely on a stock LS1.

My car has 81k miles on it and I am running a Procharger D1 at 4lbs. With 4lbs I have run 11.9's @ 116mph on my daily driver tires. (along with a B1 Cam/ 918 springs/Headers/3600 vig stall) I also added SVO 42 injectors and a walboro fuel pump + tuning.

i can tell you that i've had no durability issues with my car and a procharger kit. it has been on for 3 years with all different boost levels up to 11 psi, which is probably pushing it. just make sure your fueling is up to par and you have a good tune. that is the key.

not to be a downer but I've asked the same thing and I've seen on here

"if you can't afford a rebuild you can't afford to be blown"

My friend Jeff ran real good with an aftercooled Vortech at 7# for about a year. Then he went up to 10# on his stock shortblock and broke a ringland in about 1 week.

8 psi is maximum reliable limit on stock bottom end. You can run a P-1SC or D-1sc Just keep the boost down.
