I honestly think that the guy who built the motor gapped the rings wrong BUT a compression test would defiantly identify a serious problem! Thanks for the advise, Lata, Ark

PS - anyone have any experiance with the SSBC pump?

There's your answer right there. I'd make the guy redo the engine .

Idle speculation on the part of the witness your honor.

I have triple the crankcase pressure of stock. At half you still need to do something.

I was actually thinking about plugging all the pcv and passanger valve covers, and connecting the stock air pump in reverse phase onto the driver side rear valve cover spot with an inline filter.

I gave my air pump to Intmd8 a few years ago, and I recall him saying it did not pull enuff.

At a mininum folks have to run breathers if you are making a lot of power.

Are the extract systems that attach to the exhaust via a pcv valve any good ??

How good or free flowing does the exhaust system need to be for them to work, or does it really need to be an open exhuast ?

I Just figured Breathers would bleed oil onto the motor BUT Maybe not? WE will see? I was just hoping that Vac pump in addition to the Exhaust extract systems would be a viable option?

DOes it leak oil down your motor? I guess I would need some different Valve covers that would allow me to put a breather onthe Drivers side?

just disconect your PVC lines from the valve cover and use those ports as breather lines (unless you have an lt1 and im not sure about it then)

BTW: when i was having crankcase pressure and my rings were worn i had a leak down test done and everything checked out ok, so doing a leak down may not show your problem that the rings are worn.

Does anyone have a picture or two of a breather & catch can setup?

Is there any odor problems with this setup?

I have a question, where does your system go into the exhaust? If you have an STS system, it has to go after the turbo... If its before the Turbo, it will never relieve.

Another thing you have to consider is that AIR pumps are designed to push air, not pull. A good one to use would be a vacuum pump like many HT4100 Cadillacs(and many other cars) had. I know it sounds weird, but it would be similar to a electric in-tank fuel pump, they dont pull fuel well because they are designed to push it.

I just ran my passenger side cover to a catch can, then to a clear gas filter,( as a second mini catch ) and took out the pvc altogether. Then to the inlet hat and i am yet to see any oil in the catch can ever, the filter gets dark then i change it and thats it. Works for me, although not optimal i suppose. There is just this oily film on all of it and it seems to accumulate in the filter media the most. In 3 or 4 thousand hard miles it still has the same filter in it but it needs changed before spring.
