Default TURBO IS HERE!!!!! KYLE QUIT BUSTING MY ***** NOW>>>

TURBO SHOWED UP TODAY

UPS gorillas, did there best to roll this bastard from phamspeed to my house. The box was torn and the turbo was poking through I made the driver stick around so I could give it a good 10 over...didn't really have to make him stick around he's about as stoked for this new project as I am. He did deliver it very late, 6:30pm today... I also got my POR20 thermal coating too
Weather is suppose to be nice tomorrow so, I hope to get some stuff done. It rained sunday and to top it off, my lil son tried his best to off himself sunday morning with a tub o' vicks vapor rub, PARENTS KEEP EVERYTHING AWAY FROM YOUR TODDLERS.../parent off.

Back to the turbo...
This thing is pretty decently sized. Its about the same size as the D1-SC its replacing. But the inlet is huge 5 inches across. I had to remove the exhaust housing to get the oil fitting on, but that was cake. I also have to clock the compressor housing as the way it was shipped, the outlet is facing the engine block, so I have to point it downwards...also easy to do.

BUT to anyone that can answer this question, I'll them forever.....WHERE THE F@#K do I get the flange or silicone connector...or V band clamp to fit on the end of this..the outlet of the compressor side, its 4.213 inches OD.

Everyone does the water bottle to turbo size comparison, but I did the turbo to the lil guy comparison...The turbo is now his I have to get a turbo for my son so I can have mine back

Thought I'd post a few pics to show that I haven't given up yet...

yep he's OK, just a little red in the face, he rubbed that crap all over his face and I thought he might've eaten some so I had to watch him like a hawk all day...tough being a parent I was scared all day. Poison control said if he was playing and not shaking/crying he'd be OK.

The turbo is pretty big, and it weighs more than my lil guy by five pounds He's 35lbs and the turbo is 40lbs.

I've scoured the intraweb for that damn....whatever goes there and havent had any luck.
I was thinking 4.0-3.0 hump hose connector and putting the "hump" over the flange bit, but it looks like no one makes a 4.0 to 3.0 hump hose
I'm headed to the big rig store to see if they know...well tomorrow that is.

That looks like a regular v-clamp flange,

http://www.wolferacecraft.com/Search...?CategoryID=52

should get you going, there are lots of places that sell them but you get the idea.

That is either one small kid or one big turbo..

Thanks Harlan for the PM and the answer to this lil issue with that flange.

KP yep those look like what I need, just never messed with these so its all new to me. Turbo is medium sized very similar if not the same size as D1-SC, my son is an average 2 year old. On the pics with the turbo in front of him, I was kneeling down so the turbo is a lot closer to the camera than he is too me. All about perception.

No problem

we had to hunt down that and the hot side flange for a customer car. The hot side was easy, standard diesel part.

But after many calls, we found the discharge at precision. It's a weird flange, less angle than a standard 40° v-band and not as wide as most of the oring seal stuff. Garrett themselves doesn't even make the flange, how stupid is that

Great comparison. Glad to see you got everything now I can't wait to see what your car does when it's all said and done. Please PM me about that clamp if you could. Hope the weather gives you a chance to get outside and wrench away.

I need to get a new FMIC

Good to see your little guy is OK to.
