I like the idea of big cubes like 408, 427 and what not. Yet you don't see many guys with a 427 and a Turbo. Why not? I know there are 408 iron blocks but why no 427? I heard it is better to keep lower cubed engines with FI but never heard why. Or does it depend on how much boost you want to run?

A 427 is a lot more expensive than a 408. 408 = .030 over iron block plus a 4" stroker crank. A 427 is a sleeved AL block and 4.125 bore or a C5R block, which is big dollars compared to yanking an iron block out of a truck. Plus, to run an effective single turbo setup on a 427 you really need to move up to a TV frame turbo.

TV frame turbo? Don't use big words like that with dumb people like me! J/K! I figured a 408 was more economical but I was just wondering why more people haven't tried it or is it just the cost?

i think small cubes and turbo's are more prevelent due to class rules. the theory of bigger is better holds true with FI just as much as it does NA. the more cubes the more power you can eficiently make so long as the other components work with them. in other words, you can make more power with a 408 than 348 on the same octane and amount of boost just like with NA power. like others said, it usually comes down to cost, but class rules too.
