Default Ls6 Cam Not Enough?

Iam In The Process Of Putting Phamspeed Turbo With Patriot Heads On My Car, However The Shop Doing My Heads Is Recommending A 02- Newer Ls6 Cam, I Think Its Way To Mild. I've Talked To Different Shops And I Get Different Answers Everytime. What Cam Are The Turboguys Here Running. I Wanted It To Be Reliable And And Be Able To Idle Well. LOOKING FOR AT LEAST 550RWHP WITH STOCK BOTTOM

Not that I am an experienced turbo guy but I was thinking of the LS6 cam my self along with upgrade springs etc along with my mild turbo setup I have planned.

I too would like to know if it is a good choice.

550 is easy from everything I read. It's all in the fuel system and tune.

i made 787rwhp with a stock 1998 camshaft and ran the time in my sig.

if you want noise, get a cam, if you want power, spend it elsewhere.. especially for only 550 horse.

If you want something similar to a Z06 cam but slightly more aggressive have a look at the LPE GT2-3 cam.

I had Cammotion custome grind a 222/216 560-574 115 + 4 =111LSA reverse split turbo camshaft.
I will be installing a STS T67 rear turbo- intercooled, running 12-14 PSI
Diamond -8.6 boost pistons, 241 LS1 Absolute Speed hand ported heads, flowing 300 CFM at .600

I would go with a cam like this, dont need a big cam with a turbo. But get a reverse split turbo came, to prevent reversion.

The weakest link in your bottom end is your ringlands. It doesn't matter how good of a tune you have, they have a threshold limit of so much. 550 on stock bottom will not last too long.

Keep your tune conservative and just keep it at 7 lbs, that will ensure your motor stays alive till your new bottom end goes in. You should be able to make 450-500 easy with that.

I'd wait on a cam as well. Of course its up to you.
