My previous engine setup was 8.4:1 CR. Ran it like that for years. I first ordered that low of compression because I was uninformed on turbo engines. Yes it would have helped me run more boost on a 91octane fuel, but I never did that. My car was a track only car and it ran mostly on e85 or a leaded race fuel. When it finally came time to switch setups, I had another motor built, same cubic inches, but this time I went with 10.5:1 compression. I couldn't be happier. Easier to light off the turbo, and I can run the same hp with lower boost. This is just my experience. Everyone can be different. It really depends on what you want out of the motor I guess.
