Default Turbo Intall -- more updates

Last night we put the new cam in and got the heads back on the car.

Then we started putting the Stainless works hot parts on the car. The manifold went in without any problems.

It was time to get the turbo mounted up. This is where we ran into problems.....

The turbo was running into the frame and we are going to have to fabricate new lines for the Power Steering Pump.

Here are some pictures:

Here is Brian's clever invention to help prevent the manifold cracking

NICE work! I bet that bracket holding the turbo will help with some of the problems that kit ran into.

Keep it going...It looks great

looks familiar.. this time 2 years ago you would be a crazy person for claiming the turbo hit the frame rail.

Could Brains make a duplicate one of those manifold braces? If so, how much? KAOS may want one for his setup.

I thought that it was a given, that a full size T-76 would hit the frame? I know that Turbo Tech told me that it would hit. Its not that hard to channel the frame, you have all the tools you need. Its time consuming to get it done right.

Great idea Brains! I'll be making one of those braces to mount to both sides of my pham speed Y pipe....just can't bear looking at my headers holding up that turbo way up front. Thanks for the great idea, and great pics too. Can't wait till its done....hope you covered up those heads when grinding on the frame.

Didn't Robo put a spacer in the driver side motor mount for frame clearance?

I have this kit and I NEED a filter for it badly. I'm going to just mount a filter straight to the turbo but I need one that is stubby and doesn't hit the back of the radiator. Where can I find one?

I could duplicate the bracket, but I'd worry about it fitting a different car since these kits are somewhat hand-built. There's probably subtle tolerance differences, and I'd hate to have it not bolt up. Besides, its nothing too major, just sheet steel and steel rod

Looks like nice work.

What about heat expansion? Will that bracket hold the manifolds too much? What about a spring tensioned setup, like to the head? - Just thinking out loud here.

I worry about the header's holding all that weight to. I asked Phamspeed about that they said the hot parts expand and contract when heated up and cooled. If they made a brace that didn't expand with the hot part's that they might crack. Thats why they have that spring setup. Is this true or could I make a brace and be ok.

for the power steering line you can order the fittings from jegs or summit, or anyother place thats got them
you need the power stering to An adapters, if you go through turbotech they will try and charger you something like $300 for them when all they are, are some an fittings and hydralic hose.

The spring setup seems to defeat the purpose. The brace is to keep the manifold from moving because that is what causes them to crack. I would think that a firm brace would help that problem where as spring setup would allow the same movement. I don't know... that could be wrong. I guess we will find out.
