tuning for 2 boost levels??

Default tuning for 2 boost levels??

is there a way to tune for 2 boost settings. Say tune for 7psi and then when you turn the boost controller up to 10psi it adjusts fuel, spark, etc. Is there a way to do this and what are the options

Search...some asked this like last week.

Basically, without a PCM that provides an additional input to "switch" to another tune, or a PCM that reads boost, you can't tune for anything but what you are currently running.

If you run 2/3 bar speed density, one tune will work for all boost levels, provided you are using the proper fuel octane for the amt of boost you are running.

As INTMD8 said, the tune will be right provided you're on the right octane. Timing is based on RPM's vs. load (boost/vacuum), so if you're peaking at 7 psi on pump gas you'll have the right timing for 7 psi. If you turn that up to 12 psi and had it tuned for 12 psi the timing and fuel values will all be correct for that much boost. When you want to run say 20 pounds of boost and race fuel is when you'll need something like a switch chip, although I don't know if they're made for LS1's.

Sooo... Just because I'm curious and don't want to screw things up, let me make sure I'm understanding you two right.

If my car is tuned for 8 pounds on pump (93 octane) gas, then I can knock it down to 5 pounds with no ill effects? What about cranking it down to 0 (or as close as possible) on rainy days? As long as I'm running 93 octane or better, I'm golden?

a properly tuned PCM will recognize the aditional airflow, and take care of fuel and timing accordingly. No need for 2 bar if you have a maf that does not peg/max out,

it is not the boost that matters, but total airflow entering the motor.

if we are talking turbos, you will run one level...KILL!! If you dont want to have all that power, dont floor it. The kid who drove my car into the bay yesterday at Discount Tire thought my car was stock!!!! Set your tune up for the highest psi you are gonna run. When you lower the boost, it will be rich and need a little more timing for max power but who cares about max power if you are turning it down.
