Default RICE ETR special, version II

Well i started all over so i could fit this T76 and FMIC.
I ran out of 2.5" tubing so i had to cut up some of my old kit to make it work.. thus the reason for all the small pieces and the huge hole in the pass side up-pipe that i will have to fill and smooth out. The DP/exhaust out to the muffler should be done tomorrow and will go through the k-member the same way the pass side pipe does except of course on the driver side... so no pipes under the k-member, not gonna go through that again. I don't really like all the U bends but we will see how it works.

here's what i got done today: critique away.

Thanks Tiago

yea... I'd be driving this thing if i had been working on it like i should have all along... i know i know...

FYI.. on the passenger side is a stock '00 manifold (pass side) and driver side is a stock 98-99 pass side manifold flipped around. I used to have a pass side '00 manifold on there but i didn't like how close it was to the steering shaft (actually touched without notching and motor mount spacing)... the 98-99 fits perfectly without any of that but i am worried about the insides coming apart (going through the turbo) and i know it will not flow nearly as well as the later design. So if anyone has a set (or just a pass side ) of 98-99 shorty headers for sale, let me know. Thanks

Thanks guys.

SmokinHawk: right now i am going with a 3" DP... whenever i decide to upsize to 3.5", things will be tight going through the K-member... but i will have to figure that one out when i get there.

actually, all those kits were made to have to be modified to fit any perticular year car v6s have alot of variations... not even accounting for what the owners change.

shoulda just set a box of tubes then i cut and laid 12 new welds.. was fun for me.. frustrating and expensive for the owner that was expecting it to just bolt on.

also the one v band flange that is on the turbo; the clamp is too big, completely collapsed its still loose.

anyways does anyone have a scematic or pics of how the NON_SPONSOR style alternator bracket looks up close and installed correctly on the car?

rice-etr needs that info...he has just the stainless works flat parts.

yea yea yea... too bad you don't live anywhere near me, other wise i would have to show you what's up beotch...

Well i got a little bit more done tonight. I didn't like the way my bumper sagged without the foam in it so i pulled the cover back off and notched out the foam. It fits alright but i didn't really have the right tools for the job and butchered the thing up pretty badly... anywho... it's on there.
I also cut out my front bumper cover but it needs some detail work now.
And the DP is in there... clears fairly well and has room for the engine to torque and still not have the pipes touch any thing.... so i hope.
Tomorrow I hope to weld the wastegate on, hook the DP to the exhaust to go the rest of the way back and do all the cold side piping... pretty much finish the kit up.

And thanks again for the compliments... and MM for asking about the alt brkt.. if anyone has pics, i would greatly appreciate it.

do you forsee any problems running the down pipe through the suspension like that?
is it going to hit when the suspension moves?

I unhooked the strut and jacked the control arm up... if i end up doing some crazy Harlan style wheelstand it might hit, but then i will have bigger issues than that pipe getting bent i think.. he he. It's pretty close to the pivot of the control arm so i think i will be ok... but once i get it running i will know for sure.

well i finished the kit this past friday so i could make a car show in Va beach.... i say finished it, i half-assed quite a few things to get the car running which i am now re-doing... so the car is loaded with tie straps and fugly unpainted parts/welds (my mask is just too damn dark..). Either way, the car runs great and it soooooooo nice not to have to worry about going over bumps or anything on the highway.. plenty of clearance
I ended up running out of 2.5" and 3" tubing so i had to re-use a lot of parts from my last kit... which is why there are a lot of little pieces everywhere.

Sorry for the cluttered pics but i will take more once i get it all cleaned up and up on my friends lift so everything can be easily seen.
