I hope that was the only problem. You could try it short term until you can get another pulley. You'd just have to make sure you got it exact or it could add vibration to the bottom end.

Holy **** Ed, you crazy **** . Hopefully that was the problem right there... keep us updated!

p.s. if you wanna see how things are looking, you could do an oil analysis, that would tell you if you have excess amounts of metals... although I still haven't gotten my kit yet, and if the noise is still that pronounced then you know what it is...

Looks like that was the problem. No more knocking. :whew:

Went for a part-throttle run. Pulls great for 5#'s

Time for another MMS pulley. Or the 8 rib set-up.

Cool. But when the time comes here what I am getting done for that price.


CRANKSHAFT: STOCK (Would like it repolished)
RODS: Callies (Compstar) H beam 6.125
PISTONS: Diamond reverse dished
RINGS: Diamond
BEARINGS: Clevitte 77 rod and mains "H" bearings with Durabond cam bearings
ARP bolts and studs
That will include all oil galley plugs & dowel pins
for all parts and labor listed above, balanced rotating assembly, and finnal assembled

OMG Ed, I'm gone for one day and I miss all the drama !!!

SOOOOOO glad to hear it was only the pulley. What a relief ! My mouth was hanging open until I read the second half of the thread !

You can't believe what a relief it was. Its even more fun to drive. Now its time for another dyno and see if I can give it a bit more timing.

MMS Pulley
You can just tap it and put some grade 8 bolts through the front and loctite them in. Liiks like crap but good luck finding and MMS pulley. If your crank isnt pinned now is the time to do it. The balancer not being pinned will let the bolt loosen up, once the bolt loosens up the pins will shear off soon afterwards. If its already pinned never mind

I put the grade 8 bolts through the holes and used two nuts on each bolt to hold it.

man the same thing happend to me like a year ago...yup the bolt just backed out.
it had me upset just like you. glad its all good now. loctite dat biotch!
