Default Bearings and Ring Gaps for Turbo

What kind of clearance would I want for Main and Rod bearings and Ring Gaps for turbo application, trying to make a daily 500rwhp and monthly trip to the drags at around 750rwhp?
I know theres always the point of dimishing return/loss>effect. I have been bottle nursed and now need to get on the iron lung

I personally would like .002" (.015 to .025) for the mains & rod bearings. Race motors run a lot looser but if your driving it more than just down the track then you want it kinda tight. I dont see where it being forced induction would change that any, but then I am willing to learn on a Saturday too, hehe. My theory is run it tight. Bearings will always 'wear out' a little, but wont ever 'wear in.' If that makes any sense.

Ring gap would be a good question for your potential piston manufactorer (sp?).

Wow, what I hate about specs....ppl miss a digit and BAM!

I personally would like .002" (.015 to .025) for the mains & rod bearings. ( I am guessing meant to say .020" +/- .005

And I have read where lots of ppl loosen up the second ring as 73 said above. I know manufacturers have suggested, but I believe its for the extreme side, like... If you order boost pistons for up to 30psi, but you only run 10psi max, then you want to tighten it up just a little, feel free to correct me.

no he meant .002 +/- .0005 just for rods and mains

i personally like .002 to .0025 for my stuff...

ring gap is more based on which pistons, your piston to wall clearance and ring manufacturer...

for you it would probably be best to just call the ring manufacturer and tell them what you have and let them give you their suggestion...

My rings are set up @ .26 top and .24 bottom. The top ring will expand more due to more heat.

Interesting subject because I just got done assembling mine this weekend, I asked LPE's what they run their ring gaps at. They run the top ring at .022 and the second ring at .026 on all the twin turbo stuff. I tried to get to these numbers as close as possible but occasionally I screw up and get a little big but I'm not to worried because I'd rather go a little big as to a little to tight. This was with Mahle 9.5-1 pistons and the Mahle supplied rings. As for rod and main bearing clearence I ended up with .002-.0025 on all the mains and right at about .002 on the rods. Can't wait to get her back in the car so I can start hurting other parts
