What's the cheapest forced induction?
Powerdyne, 4psi Procharger, or?
Besides the STS, what's available for little over $4,000? Is there anything for less? 5psi with the cam I have would be fine. What's the best way to get a deal on a complete used one? Thanks.

No such thing as cheap FI. Yes, you can go cheaper with the used stuff, but you almost always run into the missing or broken parts problem, not to mention no warranty.
Expect to pay $6000 for a decent kit and other misc parts, $1000 in labor and dyno tuning, and keep another $1000-$2000 on hand in case something goes wrong (engine, rear-end, etc).
$$$$$$$$$$$
For only 5PSI, you're probably better off getting some Stage II high compression heads, sell that cam and get a real cam, and some good custom tuning. Probably pick up the same horsepower and even more low-end torque. And come out cheaper.

what is your power requirement. Powerdyne is only good for 400-425rwhp. Phamspeed would definately be the way to go, cheap good power. Now i know others will chime in and say forget powerdyne or phamspeed, go vortec or procharger but their talking big power adders. I WILL SAY THIS ONCE, DECIDE ON YOUR HIGHEST POWER REQUIREMENT, THAN PICK THE CHEAPEST SYSTEM. No need to spend more money on a big turbo/supercharger than what you really need.. Mind you boost is addictive.

Thanks for the advice. I don't want to go heads and cam because I like the stock sound and drivability. I want an extra 100 rwhp added to what I have now. 4 or 5 psi will do the trick. I've never really wanted an STS, so I'm thinking $4,400 for a 4psi Procharger and if I need to I can get the bigger injectors and up the boost some.

Go ATI. It is the best price out of all the supercharger systems. And for the price, you get the intercoolers and don't have to pay a extra couple of grand for a after cooler like on the Vortech kit. I am very satisfied with my charger setup.

well depending on how long you want to wait, phamspeed would be the way to go. The kit would definately put you over 100rwhp with room to grow. The next best thing would be the sts kit which would also put you way over 100rwhp over what you have now, probably closer to 200rwhp. The cheapest would be the a powerdyne with 6psi. That will give you 100rwhp but no room to grow.

I think the cheapest most complete kit is the ATI D-1SC 8 rib tuner kit. U will only need 60lbs injectors and intank fuel pump with it. You can get new ATI D-1SC 8 rib tuner kit for $4200-4800 depends on who you buy it from. I got my ATI setup + injectors and the pump for 5K shipped to my door. Install was a breeeze with no problems and everything has been working flawless since the install.

no room to grow, I can still get a 2.25 pulley that is rated for 13 psi, I can still put in a intercooler, I can still pick up bigger injectors, toss in a bigger cam, and custom tuning.
right now I have it on my 4.8, soon it will be on my 6.0, my only concern is trying not to rip the **** out of my 4l60e before i get it built in to a 4l65e.

it is not a car as you can see in the sig, it is a truck, last run on dyno tune at 9 psi on the 2.70 pulley for the stock 4.8 371 rwhp and 378 rwtq.
no other tuning was done to my truck after that.
farm truck will be doing the tune on the new set up for the 6.0
6.0 LQ 9 block
ported and polished 317 heads
balanced crank
balanced rods
balanced LQ 4 pistons size O10
molly rings
comp cam 525/532 LSA 114 xr296hr
42 lbs injectors race tronix
high pressure oil pump
ARP kit for the 6.0
11 psi powerdyne supercharger
and a whole lot more
all i hope to see is 500 or 550 but i keep being told i should see close to 600
and one twisted up trans the first time i rip it lose.

i would rather have 9.0 for the comp, with the 317 heads and the LQ 4 pistons
i will see a comp of 9.48.
now the funny thing is a 2.93 pulley will make 6 psi on a 4.8, 5.3, or a 6.0
what is also funny is that the 2.70 pulley will make 9 psi on a 4.8, 5.3, and a 6.0
now why shuld'n't my 2.50 pulley make 11 psi on my 6.0
i will see a comp of 9.48.

I was saying you wont see 11psi because when you said u made 9psi with a 2.7 pulley on a 4.8 motor. The same pulley setup on a larger motor will definatly show less boost. Now add better breating heads and the goodies and it will even show lower boost numbers than a stock motor.
Hey man if you can make 11psi all the power to you, but im just saying its going to be almost impossible to get a 11psi on a built free flowing 6.0 motor. Im trying to say, since u are going to do all that and your goals are 500-550rwhp then u better be looking at another system that can get u there on a stock motor/heads and in some cases exhaust.
Good luck.

had a powerdyne on my 96gt...sorry to say it but, JUNK. i upgraded to a vortech and the difference was huge. would have went turbo if i could have on that car, and now with the camaro i decided to go all out and get the turbo. i am going with phamspeed for its price, and power potential.
