Default Two step or Timing Tuner?

Hey guys, I will be getting my F1 setup soon and came across a good deal on a Harlan2 step and a timing tuner. I was wondering if I either of them would be helpful at all with a supercharger setup? I am just not sure if the 2 step will work with a supercharger. Also, would there be a need to adjust the timing with the Timing tuner for different setups, as if I added a meth kit down the road?

Thanks in advance.

I dont think a 2 Step will help you.. A suoercharger builds boost in correlation to engine RPMs, a turbo builds boost in correlation to how much exgaust gas is spent.. The 2 Step turns 2 cylinders into air compressors so more load is put onto the engine and more air is sent into the turbo.. Timing tuner would be hepful for the street, wouldnt depend a whole lot on it for racing..

The two step would help you be consistant with boost levels on the launch. The blower will make the same amount of boost at what ever rpm you have it set at every time. That way you can tune your launch to the conditions of the particular track your at

I was not sure if the two step would work the same on a boosted application.

What about the timing tuner? Would there be a need to adjust for two different timing settings, or are there any other functions that would be useful?

I skip on both and just have the car reflashed when you add the meth kit. On a turbo car, 2-steps should come w/ the kit (but don't)...not really necessary w/ a belt-driven setup (as someone else mentioned).

Well, when you start of the sentence with "I dont think a 2 Step will help you" what am I supposed to think. I am new at this and looking for real world experiences. When the second reply was made, it really threw me off because I have no idea who really knows what they are talking about.

I am still looking for a few other replies to help me decide who is right and who is wrong.

Thanks for trying to make it clearer.

Look let me clear a few things up it looks as though you are getting some mis information from some. Goldrust knows what he is talking about he works on forcedinductions cars alot. It doesn't matter if it is Turbo or supercharger you will not see any boost until the motor is under a load. So if you go to launch a FI vehicle with out a two step you will be at the mercy of how fast the motor becomes under boost when you let out of the clutch or with an auto foot braking it to load it up for a good launch under boost. The 2 step will load the motor with out foot braking or when you are at the line with the clutch pushed in so that when you go to launch you already have boost and the power it makes at that rpm etc... So to answer your question yes the 2 step will help you launch better because you are making a desired amount of boost on the launch and it will be the same every time you launch as long as the settings are all the same etc... The timming tuner is a judgement call and depends on your setup. Could help if you wanted to run pump gas on the street and race gas at the track maybe? Hope this helps you.

Sounded clear to me.

If the car's got a turbo or on the can, then 2-step all the way. Supercharger..nah.

EDIT:Hold up...stick car or automatic?

Come over anytime if you want and see how it works on a supercharger.

Call up ATI or Vortech and see what they think about it. I know what ATI will say, I've talked to them about it before. I've seen a Procharger car toss the belt and damage the tensioner from being on the 2-step. The belt (cog) doesn't like the stuttering a 2-step creates. Turbos on the other hand love it because it will spool it up due the load on the engine.

I'd only use a 2-step on a blower car if the tires were blowing away b/c of shitty track prep (set 2-step to a lower RPM than the converter stall) or on a really big head unit (F2 or bigger). For a street car, it's not really worth it, but hey, it's not my money.

Well I have seen a Nitrous car blow up at the line. Does that mean that all nitrous car will blow up? I am sure ATI and Vortech would not recomend. They won't recomend overspinning a blower either but it is done all the time and I am not saying it is the sweet setup for the street, but the track is a different story and could be a very usefull tool in consistent runs especially on a 6spd. If I had an auto I would always go with a transbrake if it was an option no question about that if it wasn't my daily driver etc... and again he can foot brake an auto car easy to load it up. I was just giving him the way they work any ways it is his choice I don't know what he is trying to do with his car. Are you shooting down an idea cause you saw it didn't work on one application? Just wanting to know cause I am not trying to get into a pissing match with you, but I have to go back to his question

And they will work. Maynot be best for him. I was just letting him know what they do and that it works fine with my Vortech setup and a 6spd.

I should've asked if it was a stick or auto setup first. That was my mistake. To me, it makes a big difference on how effective it will be.

Sorry guys, I meant to mention that it is a 6 speed car. I would not even bother trying to use it on the street, just when I go to the track to get consistent launches.

I agree it makes a difference on any setup. I wasn't trying to say you were wrong about anything. Just that when you say it can't be done or shouldn't be done someone does and it works for them etc...
Good luck with the setup Blown408! Hope we hashed out some of the problems you may or maynot have using a 2 step. The Timing Tuner is your call I haven't used one.
