would you think the y2k t88 would be a better choice if the car was going to see the street for about 100-200 miles a week?

No, because you still have to contend with trying to get some bastardized air filter on the 7 inch inlet, and a ******* 5 inch downpipe through the suspension and K-member is like trying to parralell park a ****** semi on a crowded street. Twins = dual 3" downpipes easy to route, and twin air filters so no **** to deal with. Quicker spool if you run smaller A/R housings too.

Start reading about the people who have been there or are close to being there...

Harlan, Ohio Boys, MightyMouse, Parish, others (I know there are more and not trying to forget you, just can't remember right now). Also, what Zombie said. If you want a 4th gen F-body, find one in good condition and start building on it. Start with a PTK or TTi kit with somthing like a t76 on it and go from there. Definately do it in phases so you learn what works and what doesn't and definately read all of those who have been there before so you do not duplicate their mistakes. Aim low, hit high.

Twin 60-1's, twin 62-1's. Unless you want to race in a class why are you so hung up on single?

i dont guess i have to have just one... if i could use twins and have better street manners along with 1000+rwhp it would be worth it...

any pics around of a TT setup?

i just didnt wanna have to lay down the extra 2grand unless i had to... other wise i dont mind....

i always say do it right the first time and be DONE.

Thanks for all you guys' help

A twin setup isn't going to be 2 grand extra when you're looking at shelling out 2800 bucks for a Y2K, 800 bucks for an HKS GT-gate, a lot more for a 5" downpipe, etc. At the point where you're building a thumper turbo, twins can become cheaper if you use the right parts. 1200 for two master power 62-1's instead of 2800 for a Y2K is a lot of money saved. 400 for two tial 38mm's instead of 800 for a HKS GT gate is also a lot of money saved. Look for pics of the stenod car, they're running twins, same with harlans and that other dude with the twin T67's.

as much as we'd ALL like to do it right the first time, it's just a pipe dream. that's why everyone is telling you to start small, and work from there. wise advice. i'd take it.

what are the benifits of twins? is it faster spool with the same power of one large turbo?

At the point you're at, generally yes. A pair of 60-1's with P-trim wheels and .68 or .81 housing will spool VERY quickly on a 408 and will have no trouble supporting the 1000 RWHP you're after. Comparing some ~1500 HP turbos, lets say a T94 and a pair of T70's, to get 1500 HP you're looking at about the same amount of lag. But, when you only want to push the 70's to say 1100 RWHP you can knock em down to .68 A/R housing instead of .96's it would probably take to make 1500 RWHP, and then you get a lot more low end from the quicker spool. It's all about tradeoffs, and running twins you have a lot more options. .58, .68, .70, .81, .84, and .96 A/R are all common exhaust housings. For T6 turbos there's 1.00 and up.

I'd think that a 5" downpipe would need to run out a fender like the OH Boys. Where else would you run it?

Your only real options are to split it into a pair of pipes, or oval it and try and get some semblance of ground clearance under the K-member.

how about a set of twin Turbonetic super T's for a twin 408ci combo? I believe them go by t70, t72 and the t76. I know the t76 comes in a .96 but not sure on the other two...

So, not lose this thread, the super T is interesting where its basically a y2k compressor housing mated to a t-4 turbine housing. The downpipe is around 3.16" and has a 3" outlet for the compressor.

I believe they come in a .96 a/r. Since its a small turbine/larger compressor setup, it will take more rpms to turn the same cfm in regular t-4 turbo... however, turbonetics has a new one where it can turn up as hiugh as 25psi to 30psi even. Seems like a good turbo if you want big power later one...

anyone know or has researched this turbo a bit more?
