Default waistegate q's

this is my first v8 build. I've been turboing 4cyl's for a few years, and am finally stepping up to a muscle car. I'll probably end up using an ls1 (of some form) in it. the plan is for a single t4 (sizes undetermined yet), with hp goals of between 450-550...depends on what i do on the build. Now I've been getting a few different answers tot his question, so i thought i'd come here. I have an assortment of parts left over from the 4cyl builds....1 of them being a tial 38mm gate. Is that large enough for a 383-406? I know i havent provided enough info to get a forsure, but do u guys normally run a 46mm or larger? I personally think its to small, but others have said it should be ok. Just trying to get a clearer picture.

Actually that's backwards. It should work better for higher boost levels, where it doesn't have to bypass alot of exhaust. Jose from Forced Inductions is running a turbosmart 38mm on his camaro with a T88, and it holds low boost just fine. Of course that's a higher quality wastegate also.

dont mean to go OT...but you guys really consider the turbosmart gates better? I have no experience with them, so its an honest question I've had nothing but success with tial.

good to know the 38's can flow enough though.

Tial's are about half the quality of a Turbosmart....just some food for thought.

I just spoke with someone the other day at Pro Turbo Kits and he recomended the turbo smart over the Tial.He said it has a better flowing valve and it wont have boost creep problems like the Tial would.

Yes I'm the one that did the testing with the Tial and Turbosmart 38's.
