Default HPP shootout vid from yesterday

Thanks to Randy Allen (ACpromotions on the board here) for posting about the invite only High Performance Pontiac magazine/Year One shootout in Atlanta a couple months ago. I sent in an application and was accepted along with Onfire's (another moderater here) twin turbo Firehawk.

Had a great time, weather was somewhat miserable but I still managed a 10.33 @ 131 in nearly 4000' DA. I think was one of the fastest cars there which was pretty cool, shame some of the faster guys here couldnt have made it. There were ~25 cars there from all over the country, Onfire, myself and one other guy with a black LS1 T/A with nitrous were the only LS1 cars. I highly recommend finding out when they are doing the next one and sending an application in, from what I understand they do it a few times a year. It was a very well run event, everyone involved was very professional and friendly.

I made 12 passes yeasterday, was just playing around with shock settings and launch/shift RPM mostly. I ran 10.50/127 for a few passes but the car was pretty rich, I didnt want to fool with the tuning so I just backed the fuel pressure off a few psi to lean it out a little and it jumped right to 10.30s @ 131. Couple vids, one from the beginning of the day and one from the nice air conditioned suite they provided. Be pretty cool to see the coverage in High Performance Pontiac when it comes out.

It was great meeting you there kp. Your car was flying. The event was very professional. HPP divided the cars into two classes. Slicks and DOT tires. kp looked like he had the slick class covered with low 10.3"s at plus 131mph. Awesome runs.

I was in the DOT class and ran a best of 11.02 at 128 mph at 10psi at a scale weight of 3801lbs....spinning down the track. kp made me a believer that slicks are superior to ET Street radials....my best 60 was 1.8xx with a couple of 2.0's 2.2's....track didn't hook close to Bristol.

Was a great event and I would highly rec it to everyone to apply to future events.

kp, you've built a great hotrod that looks good and runs good.

its also amazing what 450lbs less does fro traction Tom

I would never imagine 17" anything hooking up a car like yours. Your car sounded wicked going down the track, just a little hookage and it will be flying.

the air temp wasnt bad really, it was 85 or so but the humidity was crazy. Plus the o-ring seal blew out of my bypass and that costs me 1-1.5 psi. I fixed that for good today I hope..

Not sure what month, they take 4 or 5 cars from the shootout per issue. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics myself. They are going to do a feature on my car (onfire's too I think) as well so thats pretty cool.
