Does ls1 edit or hp tuners have a 2 step function?

Default Does ls1 edit or hp tuners have a 2 step function?

I was talking with one of my buddies last night, and he said for imports, with their tuning software they have a function in the programming that basically has the ability to turn off and on a 2 step feature.

Is that how our cars work, or is there a seperate device used?

Im thinking that would be a cool feature for future tuning software...

Ford tuning software has this feature as well.

I have heard of people using it for HP tuners for the v6 f-cars , but not the V8's.

There's no two step in the stock PCM. You can get one with a BS3 or another aftermarket one. Otherwise, look for a used Harlan two step somewhere.

hmmmm, i think i might need to talk to allan about that, unless hes already though ahead for me...

how much does one run(assuming I can find one), and how hard is the installation?

Installation is very simple. Just a couple wires. Finding one, that's a different story. I'd suggest the for sale forum and see if you can find one. They are sort of a hot commodity at the moment.

You could also buy the new MSD- LS1/LS6 box PN-6010 with the extra harness PN- 8886 which allows you to tie into the stock harness without cutting the stock harness and setting the SES light.

Features of the MSD box:

Pro-Data+ software

Plot timing curve vs. RPM

Plot timing advance vs. BOOST via 1,2 or 3 BAR MAP sensor Badass!!!!

Timing limit- Set min and max timing safety feature

2 step

step retard for N20

Idle Tiing Control- Used with OEM efi

I just received mine last week and was excited about all of the features it has. I wish the car was done so I could use it.

MSD's website says that ignition controller is for carburated applications not EFI

I have the MSD box and instructions that came with it right in front of me. That is where the information came from in my previous post. I didn't just make it up.

Does their website say anything about the items I mentioned. NO. That is why I was excited to discover that it had features that I didn't know I was getting. (up to 3 BAR timing control!!!!!)

If you call them be prepared to get a few different stories. I was told on 2 different occations that this box wan not going to be released untill late fall. Then, 2 days later I get my new Summit catalog and there it is. I called Summit to see what they had to say: 3rd week of July release (It ended up coming a week early) I called MSD back the next day and they said, Oh, I guess that is when we are releasing it.

The ford stuff you can use the neutral rev limiter for the 2 step. It is just lowering a factory limiter.

One could assume that a gm pcm should be similar, but I am not sure how it works.

I don't know the cost of the 8886. I am doing a carb setup.

That thread is leading me to believe that for some reason this is not working on T56 V8 cars. The other questions I have is what pin on the ECU is the clutch switch?

I have an RX7 conversion and I do not have a clutch safety switch. Is the clutch safety switch a grounding switch or does it send +12v to a certain pin on the ECU? I would love to wire the line lock with the rev limiter.
