AEM for LS1 FI???
http://forum.aempower.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=13519
Need some help here guys. We need a gauge cluster assembly from any 99-2002 Camaro/Firebird to support our plug and play development for these platforms. We have prototype hardware ready that should be able to drive the gauge clusters on these cars. Eventually, the system will be incorporated into the EMS but it needs a lot of testing first. If anyone knows where we might be able to buy, beg, borrow or steal one of these, please PM me.

So what kind of features is this setup going to offer? I would be more than happy with an e-mail or pm too. Hmmm maybe my DFI Gen VII will have to step aside?

This ECU will have all the same features as all other AEM EMS's with the addition of properly interfacing with the gauge cluster via the GM VPW datastream. This EMS will also mount in the engine compartment in the factory location. It will plug into the factory harness and use all the stock sensors and actuators. From there...it's all up to you...

Wow....That sounds awesome.
Good thing I left the stock harness in there. It'll be nice getting the 2nd harness outta there.
So what is the planned release date?
Thanks,
Roman

Depends on how things go with the gauge panel and enclosure design since it will be a brand new part. It's a longshot but maybe before the end of the year.

AEM's usually go for around $1400-1500 new i believe. Around $1000 less than BS3
Give or take.
So this would me us 98 guys can't play unless we get a 99 cluster and 99 harness?

I dont really know the difference either but i do know we (98 PCM) guys cant really use any thing.. ie HPT with there 2 Bar setup.... because were a 98 PCM.....
If the AEM can work with a 98 thats awsome...... now using there wideband... isnt that another $380-$400 to add on??? So it would be $1850-$1950.... still $500 Cheaper the BS3 wich you have to cut and splice.....
Does the AEM unit with a wideband work like BS3 ?? Meaning does it compinsate for what ever boost your using at thattime and ad fuel as it see's fit to get the set AFR that you set.... LIKE BS3 does??? meaning as long as timing is correct then you can adjust boost on the fly to what ever you want and be ok.. like you can with BS3???? I never knew you could do stuff like that untill i started talking to MM and other user of BS3.
I know we are all just wanting the best for out $$ and if AEM can do it..... for ALL of us (98) included ill use them...... if not ill be going with BS3......

The AEM uses Fuel Table Automapping. Meaning you can build a rough map for your setup by giving it a target A/F for the different load/rpm points and it'll make adjustments automatically.
I'm not positive I understand exactly what you mean by the BS3 compensating for boost. The AEM system has a Load vs RPM fuel map (pretty much the same as any other EMS). As boost goes up your map is setup to supply the proper amount of fuel to obtain the target a/f. If you are asking if it automatically makes adjustments due to variables such as weather etc, i'm not sure. Check out their forum.. tons of help there.
