Default A question for some of you?

I removed my 400 turbo and put the stock 4l60e with stock converter back into my car, now its acts kinda funny when in boost. Im trying not to fry the trans im running the lowest amount of boost i can out of my tti kit. i believe it set at like 4 lbs. Anyways the trans acts like it is slipping a lil bit in 2nd and 3rd on the shifts only. Will a tune fix this or not? I really hate to blow the trans out. I would like to turn the boost up to 7 lbs or so and leave it there. Will the stock trans and converter hold it without burning up? It has a 60-1 on it. Looking for reliablity not much concerned with running all that fast anymore? No other mods besides ls6 intake. I will get a tune asap if it will fix this.

Good trans cooler in there?

I'd run at least a 19,000 GVW 'cooler and I'd maybe look into putting torque management back into the pcm tune.

It has a 24000 cooler in it from the old trans and converter combo. It has had no tune at all for 3 years now. I swapped the stock trans back in today and its acting funny. Yea its just has the factory tune nothing touched in the computer. Will a tune fix the problems or need to go internal.

Im going to have to agree with PSJ, the cooler and TM will help.

Also you may be able to firm up the shifts with some line pressure put into the tune. However you dont want to go too much.

Id get the B&M tranny cooler largets you can its like 24000gvw, its not even that much
ed

it has a big 24000 afco cooler. Will a tune fix the problem?

its hard telling what the problem is, is it the engine or the trans.
if you think its the engine running on that small amount of boost, it may be to rich for what its turned for.
if its the trans maybe its already starting to go?
dont know unless you can figure out what part of the car is acting up.

Alright got the car on the dyno and had it HPtuned. I think i officially have the biggest turd turbo ls1 of all time. On 5 lbs on a 60-1 TTI kit it made a whopping 317 rwhp and like 347 rwtq. The tuner Jesse Coulter put his trans tables in mine computer. Seemed to help it out. Then he tuned it. and made it alot better running wise. He told me the trans didnt act right on the dyno like it didnt shift right into 3rd gear. It did fine for a lil while till the trans started acting up now it just slips on the 2-3 shift and you have to let off it for it to shift. Once it shifts I think it slipping cause it dont move on along like it does in 2nd. So this trans only has bout 350 miles on it. I put bout 100 on before i got it tuned. It does fine in OD no slips or anything. So it might get a trans rebuilt once again. Oh yea once the boost come on it fizzles out pretty quick builds up to 5 then down to 2 1/2. So any more ideas on what its doing? I figure a stock trans and converter would hold up for along time only makeing 317 rwhp.

i think it is slipping and thats why you got low numbers...on a TTi t-76 kit back 3-years ago, i made 471/542 with 8ish psi...more boost i know and bigger turbo but still. Better save your money and get you a Rock On 4l60e. He is having a sale on them now and mine held up to 730+ rwhp until i broke a hard part. Vid in my sig has his number or i can pm you if interested. Once those clutch packs start slippin', it aint long.....
