Default Belt came off!!

My belt came off for the 4th time in like 3 weeks. What the hell do I have to do to keep it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everytime it happens I change the setup a little. Looks like I got it on there a little better but I am sure it will come off soon. Does anyone have a pulley with some high ridges on it to keep the belt on.

Tell me what you did to fix this ****.

maybe the alternator relocate bracket is just barely out of line

Yeah I worked on getting it more in line today. It was a little off the front of the alt was down just a hair.

Its funny, my fear before I finished the setup was blowing the motor. Who would of know that the only real problem I would have is my belt falling off all the time.....

Katech belt tensioner? Maybe that will fix it?

Get everything aligned use thin washers behind brackets if you have to then get the Katech tensioner. I threw my belt 3 weeks ago and the next day I went over to Katech and grabbed one. The product way surpasses any of the shitty pics on the speedshop websites. Its just like the stock only it swings on a slot with a lock down bolt, very nice piece and now my belt problems are behind me. Just buy one, as long as you arent way out of alignment you will be fixed right up. The only other solutions would be adjustable alternator bracket or high walled pulley which is $75 from thunder and wont fix the miss alignment anyway.


Speed Inc has the tensioner for a good price

Yep, been there... tossed that. Launched it at the 1/8th on a pass in the spring. It looks pretty funny on the video with belt bouncing around on the track.

The key is the alignement and then go find a size shorter on the belt to take up any play you might have. Go to a NAPA store and get the Gates belts they sell.

If there is too much slack in the belt, then you'll launch the belt when you start spinning the wheels and then suddenly get traction which is where the slack in the belt jumps the tensioner.

Are you using the bracket htat came wiht the phamspeed kit? I am using that one with washers behind the bracket and i have NEVER had issue with teh belt comin off. The belt is like 2 teeth off the crankpully but it all works fine. GL

No I have a different one. Wow your belt hangs off the crank alittle and it never came off yet? I must have all the luck..

I think what it comes down to is it wasn't lined up right. I do have a shorter belt on it as the first one I tried came off cause it was a little to big. The belt I have now takes some work to get it on.
