Default Pressurizing the **COOLANT SYSTEM?**

Have any of you boosted guys had any problems with pressurizing the coolant system?

How much boost were you running, with what compression ratio and what head gaskets?

What did you determine was the problem and how did you fix it?

I seen two cars do this. One was one the spray and the other was boosted. They both ended up blowing coolant out of the overflow. Both cars had stretch bolts and we replaced both of them with GM MLS gaskets and ARP head studs 6 point.

Blown headgasket will do it all day long, blown water out the overflow.

Right now my combo is ARP studs with .058 Cometics and 9:1 compression. It was tuned at 14 psi. and made pretty good numbers, but I don't have any type of an intercooler or meth.

The first pass down the track it nosed off about 3/4 track and there is sprayed coolant all over the engine compartment.

You have a blown head gasket , no doubt about it. You have to cool the air going into the engine. How much timing?

It put down 501/500. And a meth kit is in work, just not completed yet.

a little low on 14psi. this is with a turbo setup right? is that on a mustang dyno? i would say the gaskets are blown. thats a lot of boost on a stock bottom end.

Thanks for the input guys.

But, what exactly about a Cometic Head gasket "blows" out?

You can actually have the layers separate and not properly reseal at cool down. A retorque of the head studs will buy time when this happens but they're going to go eventually.

14psi did you see any detonation? Detonation is a good way to lift it up real quick. Bingo 14psi coolant system
